Ok guys....I have everything for my turbo Ka-T, except

Pistons : Going With Custom BRC PistonsGreddy Intercooler KitFull 3" ExhaustEngine Work

My first question is about the pistons. I am going with 8.5:1 comp. What is the biggest bore i can get with the KA24DE and still be safe to boost holding 400 hp. Remember these pistons are custom made, so they can be made to whatever size i need including compression. I was thinking of going with 90mm (.040 over). What would that bore the total engine volume to?

I got a hold of my Machine Shop (Abacus Racing), they have been in business for over 30 years building race engines and they are familiar with the Ka24de. I told them my plan and stuff i wanted done, and they suggested one or two things and gave a pricelist.....here goes

-Boring and Honing Block - $160-Micropolishing Crank - $70 (Is this needed? It was suggested)-File Fit piston Rings - $70-Balance Crank, Pistons, Rods, Flywheel, Pressure Plate - $175-Assemble Bottom End with All New Aftermarket Bearings - $180(+100 For the bearings.

Should i buy new OEM Timing Chain Tensioners and Guides? I mean the motor is already apart. Thanks for the help guys

P.S. I am shooting to run about 320-350 whp daily driven. Powered by a T3/To4e Ball bearing turbo

The machinist should know how far over he can bore before it will become an issue. .020 is standard so .040 should be ok. 280 for bearings seems expensive to me, but if they are a good shop then the price may be worth it aslong as they are assembling the whole motor for you.

I would keep the bore to 89.5mm. Your giving up strength of your cylinder wall for a minor increase in displacement. The cylinders are really really close together on the KA and reducing strength can lead to problems.

Polishing the crank is a good idea. Radius the oil feed holes on the crank. On full race motors I have the #2 and #4 mains converted to full groove bearings. This involves notching the main caps for the tangs on the bearings. This provides better oiling to the rod journals.

Have the rings file fitted. Please let me know what they feel is the correct ring gaps for your application. I have played around with ring end gaps on boosted vehicles for years and have my opinion. Just wondering what they are suggesting.

If you have them assemble the bottom end, have them give you a list of clearances for the rods, mains, and thrust.

I was worried about wall strength...i will go with .020 over. Anyone know what the motor comes out to be in L.

It is 180 to assemble the bottome end...and 100 for the actual bearings plus install.

Where can i get the upgraded kit?

Thanks for the help....how much power do you guys think the motor will be able to hold after this? I may push it close to 400 for track days if i can keep it tuned right. What do you think, 350 @ 15 psi possible with T3/T04E Ball Bearing?
