check for codes from ECU; most likely the MAFS isn't wired right but you might get a knock sensor code too. sounds like a mafs issue if it doesn't go past 2k

that means the ecu thinks its ok, which is whack cause if its revlimiting at 2k no freakin way

something ain't right there.. unhook the MAFS see if it revlimits the same or different. hopefully it wasn't miswired and fried ECU, if you're lucky its something else. not sure if knock puts it into limp mode or not, check the CA FSM (avail from zivia.net tech section) and see if it mentions in the EF & EC section what will make it go limp mode and if knock sensor is one of them... I doubt it since it can't use it at high rpm anyways, too much noise so its ignored there.

no knock sensor won't but it into limp mode, but it does run the timing way retarded. As far as the 2K thing, unplug the MAFS and see if it doesn't run any different. If it doesn't and you still aren't getting any codes on the ECU, the ECU may be shot. Before you put in a new one, double check that you have the SOHC wired up right. That could fry the ECU real quick...

my ecu was flashing 55 (thought all was good) all day long with a bad maf today, but it was idling like crap... I put on a good one and now it runs fine:)

Hey DJ, I need that crank pulley ASAP. You had told me that you were gonna have the machine shop pull it off. I need a pulley with the magnets installed for the SDS for a customer of mine. He has been waiting about a month now. Call me at 321-695-7258. We have MAF meters here if you want to work something out. I personally have an S14 MAF meter that can get you running if you need to borrow it.

If anybody (Dee) can help me out with a crank pulley with SDS magnets installed, let me know cause it seems like DJ is not returning my calls or emails.

Thanks guys for allowing me to jack the thread.

But you have to install a MAP right?

Not the sort of wiring / routing issue a MAF can give you, but you will have to buy that one extra part, a VPC alone won't do you any good.

:withstupbut you can get them on eBay if you keep an eye out for them. I thought it was Vein Pressure Converter, but I could be wrong. It does get rid of the MAFS though. Basically converts it to a MAP sensing system.

Cool! If you do let us know about it. (I'm sure you will) I've considered them, but I wasn't too sure as to how well they work. Plus I have a Z32 MAFS setting in a box behind me...

I think this is pretty neat, a bit costly but same as a VPC but better.
