Here are some pictures of the chains and guides after I removed the cover.
I decided to upload the pictures before I start the removal process tomorrow night.

How does it look?

Any obvious damage? Missing pieces?

None so far. I'll know more tomorrow night when I pull a guide off. The plastic on the passenger side “long guide” still feels pliable like it has quite a bit of spring remaining.

I do know the chain that gets the zip tie is so tight against the guide that I will need to pull the guide up against the spring loaded tensioner to make a little slack so I can thread the zip tie or use some type of metal zip tie that I can thread between the chain.

The old guides look to be in good shape. I've got a gasket for the upper tensioner part number 13079-60U01 that has the correct bolt pattern -- but the gasket has a different shape that extends over the guide edge.

Has anyone else experienced this difference?

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the old and new guides. Amazingly, the old guides still flex and spring back when applying pressure.

I hope the new guides look this good after 20 years and 115,000 miles.. :-)
