I had to have my '06 M35 battery replaced Friday & when I got home from Infiniti of Tampa none of the windows would auto open/close. I called & they apologized & told me how to remedy the problem (initialize). I took it for granted the moonroof would be the same but it's not. When I try to open or close the moonroof it just moves about an inch or less with each push of the button and holding it down doesn't do anything. After opening it all the way in 1" increments & closing by same & then holding the close button for the 10 seconds the dealer told me, nothing changes on the moonroof. The other windows now work fine, it's just the moonroof I can't get working. Even to open in the vent position it will only move slightly--it takes several presses to open it in vent all the way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

My M45 was the same after replacing the battery (last week). I reset mine once I opened it to the VENT position, then back down to closed... then it auto-opened fine after that. Try opening/closing it by popping it up (vent) then down, fully closed again.

Pull the fuse and reinsert it. This is typical. It just needs to reset.

Hopefully some of this works. Next time when getting a battery replaced-go to a shop that keeps your machine energized while exchanging batteries. Sears did mine w/out any problems.

Thanks all--I got it to work by using M45Caliber's method first. By bringing it to an Infiniti dealer (just in case it was an alternator & not just the battery) I thought I was bringing it someplace reputable. But after this dealer screwed up the engine in my old '94 Q45a I'll never really trust them again. I can't seem to find anyone that can do a good job on my vehicles around here (just north of Tampa). Brought my Q to a brake place, instead of getting ripped off by Infiniti, and they didn't put the hub cap covers back on properly--they flew off when I drove home & that cost me more $$. I almost feel like driving back up to Long Island to get my car serviced from now on--never had a problem with Able Infiniti.

I feel you. We would all want to think that the Infiniti dealerships are the best place to bring our cars in for repairs. Think twice.... I have already experienced poor quality workmanship from them when I brought them my M45 for some basic repairs. They couldn't even install a rear license plate frame correctly. It has rattling, loose, and vibrating against my truck lid. I also asked them to rotate and balance my wheels. I noticed that they didn't move. I asked them what they did? He said I installed your license plate frame and fixed the popping noise coming from the driver door's internal strut (or door stopper/ limiter). I asked what happened to rotating & balancing my tires and wheels? He said, oh I forgot.....huh? To make it worse, I formally gave him a printed out list of items I needed done to the car. HOW COULD YOU FORGET???!!!I know it will never be going back to that dealership ever again. There's one other thing they did to my car that is forcing me to bring it back to them but......I'll just save my breath on that one!..........

Sort of off topic but my dealer has been great.

(Crossroads Infiniti) That way you can just go half way to Long Island instead...

Hmm, I think Washington might be a little out of the way for me! All kidding aside though, for what they charge they should do a significantly better job. I don't know about other dealers, but Infiniti of Tampa even started charging a $9.95 fee for a 'fuel surcharge' on the loaner car--even though the stinking thing (G35--nice but not like my M!) had less than 1/4 tank of gas in it & gas here is around $2 for premium. Amazing.

yeah mine started the fuel surcharge thing also and there was a sign stating "fuel surcharge effective July 08". I asked the girl why is that still being charged if gas is half the price it used to be and she said it helps defer the costs of brakes, upkeep for when they resell it after it's done being a loaner (rental). I held my tongue, but looked at the sign sitting 1 foot away from her on her desk that said "due to high gas prices blah blah blah", and not a word about maintenance. I guess since they aren't selling cars that is a way to keep afloat.

Here in AZ the dealers have been charging that fuel surcharge for years. It's $10 at most, but Scottsdale (Snotsdale) Infiniti charges $15 now. That's for the entire time you have the loaner -- not per day, BTW. And you can bring the POS back empty... so I usually get my money's worth in gas and rear tire tread!
