1st off... how come no one reminded me to do my monthly poll? I'm 44 hours late!!!ANYway...With all this recent talk about dealers, Here's the June Poll:How often do you visit your dealer? Some people are strictly dealer only. some of you Losers (I say it with passive sarcasm, not as an insult :D ...)hate the "stealership" and everything about it. Thats ok, I mean I hate some things about the dealer but no where is there ever perfection. There is always ineptitude and a little, sometimes gleaming amount of no-nos going on. But I've worked at 2 independent shops and have very close friends who also used to and some who still do. From my experiences, the dealer is far superior to other shops. Of course there are a few things I like more about having been in an independent shop, but the good things overwhelmingly outweigh the bad. Anyway, voice your thoughts on what the dealer means to your vehicles' needs. Whether you love it like you love Beer and tacos on a sunday night during football season on a 50" TV and surround sound or you hate it like you hate visits to the dentist with 1920's equipment and swift kicks to the groin area.

I would vote, but won't. Being the Shop Foreman at a VW dealer. Both the G and the wifes Xterra are serviced by me at the dealer. And I do get all my parts from Nissan to service them.

So I'd say I'm a dealer for life.

I live 115 miles from the nearest dealership. Financially impossible to use dealership for anything other than warranty work.

I only use my dealer for warranty work. I also live an hour and a half from the nearest Infiniti dealer and the Nissan dealer does not want to work on my car.

Only use for warranty.....however, I did get them to do my transmission recently...

Just got my wife's 05 sedan back from the dealer...TODAY! Dropped it off MAY 7TH!!!

Was in for tensioner replacement several months ago.

In for P0011 - replaced var timing thingie...drinking....In for P0011 - changed oil In for p0011 - replaced ALL KINDS OF CRAP!!!!!! Due to the fact that they didn't have a clue what was causing P0011 !!!

If they didn't have a loaner program and are only about 3 miles away, I would have been very bad. But, I like zipping around in their loaners! Especially the G37 sedan.

Still considering a deal for a new G37.

How would you feel about an engine that's had the top and front all torn apart and put back together?????

well if it was done properly, dont worry at all. And I hope to one day trade in my G35x for a 2012 G38x. The extra 100hp will be cool. Did I just give you a peek into the future? Maybe.

I usually will only take my car into the dealer for warranty stuff. I'm a big DIY'er. I get a good sense of price knowing I take care of my baby. This past weekend she got an oil change, transmission fluid change, rear diff fluid change, new brakes and rotors at all four corners, and a good wash.

She was feeling pretty after it was all done especially with her new red calipers We wwent on a celebratory spirited drive after it was all done to break in the brakes and burn some gas

So where does that leave you in this poll No, just kidding, too bad that it took so long to get back...

I would just drive it and see how it feels, but a G37 S would be really nice to consider also.

Regarding the poll, I take it in when I'm fubar'd. I have done some dumb things in my time.

When I was young, and I had my first set of wheels to put on my civic, I stripped the bolts by trying to put on the oem lug nuts... I had to get the car towed to the dealer, and then repaired for around $200. It was a costly mistake and my friends all laughed at me, I learned a lesson that day.

It is fun to work on things yourself, and I may see the shop 2-4 times a year... but if I can do it I will.

The 2012 will have 2012 cc and a super capacitor.

My dealer is too far. Other side of the town. It was nice before I move it was like minutes away. Now it is like 10. WTF. LOL

Fe months ago I decided to do it on my own. So only warranty work from me. Most likely I won't see them at all. LOL

So far, everything on my G has been done at the dealer. I really don't trust anybody else with it and I'm a mechanical zero!

Where I go depends on my options.

Since my G37S is under warranty, I take it to the dealer for everything. That way, there will be no one else to blame if there is a problem. Actually, my dealer is so good that I want to reward them with my business even though they are somewhat more expensive than an independent shop. I might go elsewhere after the warranty expires, but only if their service deteriorates.

For our other cars, I go to the same independent shop I have used for 30 years.

It seems thats the biggest reason people stay at the dealer. Its hard to trust shops out there, many have had bad experiences. I remember when I worked at a general shop, people would always look through the windows and want to watch everything about their cars. At the dealer, since customer satisfaction is so important, people are generally happy, and I dont blame them. I would fix little issues I noticed on the car that the customer didn't know about or anything. I think most techs (steve, you definitely) at dealers take the extra step you dont see at independent shops. That keeps a loyal group for business.
