As i was channel surfing i came upon monster garage they were making a drift car. It was 1975 datsun honey bee yellow. they put a 350 z motor it came out nice except that someone that was doing the ecu tuning couldn't make the engine to run because he didn't wire something .....at the end rhys millen drove it niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee................... then ken gushi came out and in his green s13 and started to drift at irwindale an competing with jesse james and his black and yellow stripe datsun honey bee

first time i saw it too, so don't feel bad. That green s13 was sick! I kinda like the first time they drifted in the lot the best. But the green s13 was sweet. I was so surprised it didn't have a silvia front. That blew my mind!

first time I saw it too. I was flipping to Comedy Central and saw it. I never made it to my South Park.

Just curious, why were you suprised the 240 didn't have a silvia front conversion? most don't.

I had it TiVo'd but my wife deleted it before I could watch it!! I'm sure it'll be on again though. I really wanted to see it.

He said something along the lines of how he thought it sucked until he tried it himself but that it was cool.

I didn't think he drifted very well at all. It was probably the car's fault.

i would have to say that the power to wieght ratio was a little in his favor. i think that it was more the car then him drving, they dont do a lot of slipping and sliding in old mob cars

well i just was surprised b/c most sposored coupes like that have the silvia front, thats all. Its just a common upgrade, and i figured a car of that stature would have one

It looked really funny, cause the car is really stubby, and he was doing like 60 mph drifts in it, with the body rolling like mad on those little sunk wheels. Still very cool.

I remember reading about that guy (the guy with the green S13) in SCC one time. I think it was SCC. Anyways, I remember that he put that thing together mostly himself. It still even has the cable hand brake!

The article was about how American makes were getting into drifting. Pontiac kinda on the sly sponsored a drift GTO. Thing was decked out, full works, even a hydro hand brake. Then he got beat at some competition by this kid in the S13

The only reason I remember the article is because I had never heard of a hydro handbrake, so it stuck out.

i just saw that episode last night.. :\ I like how they just cut the springs, so obviously it was going to have some crazy body roll, thought he was going to flip it lol... it came out to $40,000 at the end somehow... like $38k in freebee stuff, I guess fab. work, the engine maybe, i dunno, didn't see the beginning.

It pissed me off, because they took a brand new 04 350, and ripped apart the whole front end. Like they tore the bumper off and threw it in the trash. The car had never been driven, and they just took its heart. Poor 350 never had a chance.

i'm pretty sure the 38k freebie was the actually 350z itself plus some more.

i thought jesse drifted pretty ****ty also... probably the car... it looked as though as it was open diff, there was only one wheel getting powerrr

no, they said they welded the spider gears together. So it was lsd at that point.

i agree w/ lrb_2000. It was a sweet black 350z and they just demolished the car getting the motor out. Stuff was thrown around and yanked out.

Wouldn't that be more like POSI then limited slip? If the rear end is welded.

A posi trac is the same thing as a lsd. Just a different name. But no, a welded diff is not a lsd. It is just a welded diff.

theres a mustang drift car too... do domestics belong in drift events? no. come up with your own event and enter it for ****s sake...

its hilarious how the drift fas is just catching speed over here and how it has been absorbed by domestic based rice manufacturers.
