I had an old sony multiscan... Went to dinner, and when I came back the monitor was still on, but there was no picture, almost like hte bulb burnt out...

No regrets though, paid $6 for it 3 years ago at a garage sale and its been on NON STOP since.....

Preferably Id like to upgrade to a 17in or so, and Id like to know on the recommeded ones. Good/bad experiences... I like sony but they are mucho $$$$.......

Anyone got an old one they dont want??? :)

Go for the 19" man! The prices on them have come down so much, you can get a brand new one for like $150, with used being even quite a bit lower I would guess.

I have a 19" and love it.

I have an 18" MAG LCD that I got from Best Buy. I paid about $400 for it a year ago and I love it. Go LCD if you can afford it.

They just take up no space and u can hang the damn things on the wall. :) I just love having something that takes up nearly no space, because I have very limited space on my desk at school. Also it weighs like nothing compared to regular ones.....bonus when you have to move it. I would never buy anything other than an LCD one again.

LCD=No flicker, which means they're easy on the eyes. They have somewhat limiting resolutions though...I'm used to 1280x1024 on a 15 inch monitor, in others words I'm used to having everything extremely tiny. My current 15in LCD only supports 1024x768.

Wes, check out tigerdirect.com

Last I checked, they had a special on a pretty badass 17in flatpanel (lcd) monitor.

They had a 42 flat screen at work a few weeks ago working on some new "Customer interface" blah, blah, blah. It was in our test environment and had a note in front of it that said "The Camera is On you NOW". I gotta figure at least 30 guys thought about "re-deploying" that asset to their desk.

I had a Samsung 152n 15" LCD. LOVED it. Had to let it go this spring to buy chain guides. Argh. But I'll live.

I hate LCDs. Grainy picture quality and can't go over 1280x1024 resolution. I LOVE my Sony Trinitron 21" CRT monitor. I can't wait to get Doom 3 and play that with my big a$$ monitor and my 5.1 surround :D

O, and I paid $280 shipped for it with a FULL 3 year warranty refurbished from Dell. Reatil new was a little over $700...

Work is a Dell 2000FP 20" LCD at 1600 x 1200 using a DVI digital interface. Image looks great. Fortunately, paid for by the company - costs about $900 new.

Home is a Sony GDM-F520 21" CRT at 1600 x 1200 (has a .22mm Trinitron pixel screen). Image also great - almost as good as the LCD in some ways, better in others. This was a free Sony replacement for an older CRT that I had, that fried during the warranty period.

I spend a lot of time in front of a monitor so spending some bucks on the screen, to reduce migraine and headaches is easily justified for me!
