Hey guy's with all the different Ecu and programmers for Fuel and ignition how does the new AEM ems ecu stack up to others, would the $1800 bucks be money well spent on this piece of hardware i have the cash for the Turbo setup (gonna go with that SSAutochrome setup on Ebay) but i would rather spend a little more on a engine management setup that was designed to work as one instead of different programmers piggybacked on each other to work as a whole. oh and has anyone ever looked at a Intercooler out of a Dodge ram Cummins Turbo diesel to see if they would fit in a 240? just wondering because i think they are 4 core intercoolers, and the fact that i can get one for dirt cheap! ($50 bucks) Thanks alot guys comments negative or positive are welcome NoOb

the ems is a great unit that is very difficult to be matched (plug n play, so many functions).

it can be had in the $1500-1600 neighborhood

AEM EMS has to be pretty good. Ivan made 404whp and ran an 11.71 at 16psi on stock internals with that system. It was a pretty high mileage engine too.

My only question is why are you buying all that cheap hardware and then considering an AEM EMS? I think you would be better off buying higher quality parts and holding off on the EMS.

well i basically just want to get it up and running and would rather upgrade to a bigger (and better) Turbo later, so i just want to start my KA-T project with the best management system i can find.

Ok what about the Boost designs Stage 3 kit, is this setup good, bad? and would it fit my 91 Hatch ( the intercooler piping) i would go ahead and run the AEM ems. Like you guy's said i might as well spend the extra cash and do it up right so i would have a little over 5 grand in this setup and while the stage 3 kit comes with new pistons and rods i could just go all out balls to the wall and Port, polish and port match the head! So for a little over 6 grand is it possible i could have a 400 rwhp machine!?

amen

i think aem ems is overkill for nearly any setup. most wont take advantage of its features, and not only is the unint expensive to buy, its also expensive to tune; call around and ask how much it costs to tune a aem ems.i've owned one and after messing with it for a little under a year I switched to hondata (similar to jwt but it can be fine tuned to your specific setup @ many local shops). it was about a 3rd of the cost and offered everything i needed. my suggestion would be something similar. its basically a standalone, but only alters open loop mode via programmable rom. theres a few new programs for nissans coming out early next year.

imo, p&p or headwork in general isn't worth the money. raise the boost a couple of psi for free and you'll get the same results. i think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

400hp w/ $6k? i'd hope you can make more

AEM EMS is the only plug and play standalone made...period. It's also one of the best on the market as far as user interface and options. I played with one at SEMA this year with one of the AEM reps. It really is a miracle for us garage tunerz.

SAVE AND BUY...nuff said about that.

one question on the AEM ems i went to AEM site and they had two different EMS systems one with UEGO and another without ? what is UEGO the only thing i came across was some info about wideband adjustments. And to boot it was close to $400.00 more than the one without it.
