Money Pit?

I've been looking around the forum and I've seen many people say to first time buyers to prepare because your s13 is gonna be a money pits. is it because of parts breaking frequently or is it because your just compelled to mod the car?

Why is it considered a money pit?

The answer is more simple than is being said. It is not about the modification, rather, customization proccess. You see these cars are old. Being old they suffer from higher miles, questionable maintenance, questionable ownership, negligence, and all the wonderful things that turn your dreams one day into a constant oil leak, elusive elictrical short, strange clunking noises or refusal to start the next day.

Outside of some basic maintenance a properly cared for car will not set you back more than a couple hundred dollars. That will buy you fresh belts, hoses, water pump, and other odds and ends that will give you piece of mind. Anything after that is an expense only you can judge to afford for yourself.

I have over $12K in receipts over the past 4 years alone. My car is in it's fifth and final evolution. From here I will either drive her to the ground part her out and be happy, or take advantage of the fact some dumd kid will pay decent money for an almost 20 year old car and still be happy for the time I had with the car.

its more of both if you keep a ka stock they have parts on them that are notorious to always break like egr valves for example, but you will also be wanting to throw newer and better parts on it all the time

I got an oil leak, so I just throw oil in and its practically a constant oil change!!!!

Ah but yeah, if not for the oil leak I have an urge to change my oil every 2 months. i know its probably overkill, but hey - That's how I do it.

I got Yang cousins in Stockton. I just haven't talked to them in a looong time. The guys who drive the black S14 and green S14.5 are my nephews. I married their aunt. The green S14 was mine that I sold to my nephew. Most the work done under his hood was from me before I sold it to him. I know your cousin Nick. I don't know if he likes me though. I'm cool with him, but as a uncle, I also have to look out for my niece and I'm not afraid to speak my mind. It wasn't anything personal though.

I've lived in so many different places. San Jose, Sacramento, Yuba City. I've even lived in Stockton and Fresno for a little bit too. I mostly claim San Jose and Yuba City though.
