[rant] today was a fun day. I drove the car down to a friend's shop so I can replace the front main oil seal. While I've got her on the lift, I notice that there seems to be an aweful lot of fluid back around where the output shaft and transmission meet up. It looks like the upper gasket around the shifter has gone and she's sloshing oil out there. So that's gonna be done later this week. Fun.

I finally get the front seal on. The crank pully was being a b1tch to get off, and since the radiator was pushed forward to make room for the intercooler, I could only get so much done with the crank puller. After that, it was prybar time. While I'm wiping oil and road grime off the engine, I realize that there was another source of engine oil and notice that the oil pressure switch is leaking oil, and it's a fun one to get to on the SR.

THEN to make my day seem even better. My exhaust starts gurgling as one of my exhaust gaskets blows out. That was kinda like the kid that pees on you as you lie on the ground from being kicked in the shin.

I would have tried to get to the oil sending unit today, but it was after 5, and we were getting ready to close the shop up. There's always this weekend.[/rant]

on the bright side, my car sounds awesome with exhaust disconnected after the cat :D

Sounds like a truely *fun* day, sorry about all that. Isnt that just the way it goes, you lift the car to fix one thing and end up finding a ton of other things to fix too. :/

New SR would be teh sux. Then again, rebuilt SR.... -=formulates plans=-

Not a big deal, probably need to yank the pressure switch and just plug it back in. It's just such a PITA to get to. I'll probably have to yank the engine mount to reach it. Haven't quite decided the course of action.

And since I'm dropping the transmission out, i'm going to do a bit of preventative maintenance and get the rear transmission seal as well.

Thats a good plan

replace the pressure switch, its about $10 from one of our lovely sponsors on the left...... I have one for the Q but my motivation level is very low.

All nissan oil switches are known for leaking, mine leaks somewhat but just amkes a gooey mess down there, doesnt drip on the ground...

that's also why i'm doing my rear transmission oil seal as well. So I won't have to drop the driveaxle out a second time.
