fellas:I was trying to back the truck up into the driveway to unload. Here's the sequence of events:- turned to the left to align truck with driveway- put transmission on reverse- while truck was moving back, turned the steering to the right to straighten the truck up. That is when I felt the loss of steering. It lasted about a few seconds and then it was back to normal.

So, after unloading, I decided to replicate what I just did. Sure enough, another momentary loss of steering. I also did it going the opposite direction. No problem there.

I appreciate any help in troubleshooting this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to repair this? Or, do I have to get a new pump? I also apologize for posting with a question about the truck. Thanks again.Denny

No need to appoligize denny. This section is for all nissan/datsun model vehicles.

Honestly the typical repair is to replace the pump. I dont know if there are rebuild kits available for the pumps as I have never rebuilt one on a nissan. I think in my 11+ years with nissan I have replaced MAYBE 2 pumps. Its not all that common for the pumps 2 fail on them. On your vehicle though that is the only valved component as you dont have a rack.
