Mom stole car, drove it into a 3 foot puddle, Power steering doesnt work?

im damn surprised it didn't hydrolock.

Anyways what would cause the Power Steering to go out.

fluids are fine. It worked (whining hard) for like 2 miles. Now it dont work at all(no whine, nothing).

belt is not slipping. When i open the reservoir there is NO movement of fluid

I've seen p/s pumps simply go out and not pump any fluid. Definitely odd that it would happen after being driven into a puddle... maybe just a strange coincidence.

By whining you mean the p/s pump itself, correct? You may just try a new pump because if the belt is still good that would be the only thing left (unless there is somehow some blockage in the lines, being a sealed system though that shouldn't happen).

i have a feeling its the rack after looking under my car today.

theres a big puddle of fluid under where the P/s rack piece is...

she must of crushed a line or something. which made the pump go out

That's interesting. I've not messed with the rack all that much so don't know its inner workings, is it just a seal that went?

not sure yet but when i turn full left, it leaks a stream of fluid and it drip bad it any other postion.

looks like ill have to live with it until the engine goes which wont be for a while

there's a couple lines, two that i can think of, that connect to the rack on the driver side.. you can find them in this writeup in the first picture (kind of crappy picture but with that and the description you should be able to find them): http://www.twinturbo.net/net/v...01512

try to check and make sure those are connected/still in contact
