... "Well, not quite yet." ...

Finally got the project near completion. By that I mean the only thing that's still needed is further programming of the e-Manage, dyno tuning and mild organization under the hood. I first want to put about 1K miles on the fresh engine to break her in. Only problem is that I don't have a fuel cap door right now since the paint guy needed it for matching the '98 skirts. Don't really want to park her anywhere without that. I had quite a few issues along the way as some of you know, but not all were discussed. That being put aside, trust me, this sucker wants to giddyup! I have a few more pics here. I'll be keeping you all updated.

very cool, what kind of injectors are you using?

Also don’t list what type of security system you have, there is a lot of sick people out there

Well, the injectors are a secret of mine so that won't be discussed ;) What I will say is that they will be replaced (further upgraded) soon. As for the security system, I have no problem sharing what it is, as it's what you don't know about the "other" securities that will get you in trouble.

BYP made the manifold and I had it high-temp ceramic coated. It is a very high quality manifold ... I am pleased :)

Someone posted a while back inquiring about the JWT #A2401-N00S1 (390" lift / 290 deg. duration) cams I chose and wanted to know how they would work out with the idle and high boost. What I can tell you is that first off, you must use the adjustable cam sprockets to which JWT will recommend a setting of #2 intake and letter A exhaust for high boost KA's. The overlap is able to be spread out and also assists the vacuum pressure from dropping too fast causing stalling. I'll keep you posted as I get closer to dynoing. So far, fantastic.

did you mean 275 dur. or are they really 290?? 290 is a ton of duration...

what were some of your issues that you had with your motor?what boost level does jim wolf consider high boost that you need the adjustable cam sprockets?

Yes, I meant 275D as it appears in the Post Subject ... typing too fast in the reply ;). As for what JWT considers high boost, anything over 20lbs; I think the sprockets would be well worth it though if not just for the tunability benefits.

Some of the issues I had with building the engine included not compensating for the bigger lift of the new cams before assembling the engine and installing it. Come to find out that the valves were hitting the piston tops and had to disassemble everything and have valve reliefs cut into the pistons (this was my stupidity, and an oversight). The second setback (other than time down waiting on the machine shop and my work schedule) was the 1st gen Cometic head gasket not sealing right and oil spitting out of the front. Replaced it with the high boost version from Cometic and used some high temp gasket splooge, no problem. Lots of other small issues but none that couldn't be overcome easily.

Lookin very nice Scotty, go ready to roll with the big boys. :D

Just noticed.... two blow off valves?! Hah wonder what that is going to sound like at high boost. I love the hks ssq at 15+, having a blitz on the other side would just be crucial. lol.

275 DUR cams seem pretty damn big for a JWT production cam. Was this a custom grind or in stock? Most aftermarket cams startoff at 256-264-272. I wonder if the same methods are being used to measure duration. It seems PDM also uses a different means for duration measurement. I'm just extra curious since I'm in the process of having a set custom ground for me. I didn't think anyone made such an aggressive cam yet.

im getting a custom set as well, much less duration (230 or so, probably less because my piston moves away from tdc very slowly) but much more lift .400+. note this is for a majorly destroked na engine. Duration measurement must be at the same amount of starting and ending lift (say .050") for proper comparison of camshafts

The part number for my cams is A2401-N00S1 and it is a stock item from JWT.

Would you mind emailing some info on wher your products came from. I like the DS loop, and the battery relocate box. I like everything acutally, but the details really can make a car, cant they?

Well, the driveshaft safety loop is from Summit ... it's a universal fit, and it only took time to figure out how and where to mount. I drilled and cut a little, but anyone who's mechanically inclined can handle that. The battery box is made by Taylor Electronics and is probably available through Summit or Jegs, though I got mine locally at a store called Murray's. I really only like to buy quality and/or race proven products, thus I tend to spend a little more. Also, as some of you may notice I mix some old school with new too. Anyhow, way too much to list ... anything else? :)

Secrets are simple ... don't tell. I have certain things I like to keep to myself; blame it on being a past business owner and x-NIRA racer. I pride myself on keeping certain sources/findings confidential. There are many self proclaimed king of the road "street racers" that have and will bet money against you ... the more they know, the more you lose, get it? Oh, and no ... the injectors aren't JWT ... I have past sources for custom builds ... that's all you get. There are also many machining processes and hand-building techniques I won't share. The last thing I want is a carbon-copy car looking for me (LOA). Thanks for the compliments though ;)
