I never really though about it, but should my doors have moisture barriers? I haven't had any issues or anything but I realized this today as I was removing my doors. Every other car I've worked on has had some form of moisture barrier, whether it be a plastic sheet or styrofoam molding. I just found it a little odd.

Odd... my '98 Pathy has plastic moisture barriers inside the doors. I'd assume that yours would too.

I just checked CourtesyParts.com to see if they list it and they do. So it would seem that I am missing all four moisture barriers. That's annoying.

So my local Nissan dealer wants $30 per door, which is nuts. CourtesyParts wants $16 per door (plus shipping) which is much less, but still more than I want to spend.

My idea:Use the home window insulation film instead and cut the necessary holes for the speaker and door handle. This way I can get a perfect custom fit and then I can heat the film to make it taught, giving me a truly airtight seal.

Any thoughts?

If you haven't had any issues, why spend any money or time on the matter?

Basically don't fix what isn't broken.

Well I had Dynamat over the doors but I had to fix/modify all the Dynamat on the doors and now there are spaces where water can get onto the door panels. It's probably not good if the matting on the back of the door panels get soaked, it's probably the perfect conditions for mold.

Ironically, it monsooned today after I removed the door panels and a LOT of water gets inside the doors. The back of the speakers get soaked, I wouldn't think this is good for the speakers.
