I just bought my brother’s 93 Path SE. Has about 130,000 miles on it. No rust.
As part of my standard service when putting a used car on the road, I changed the fluids. All came out looking new. My brother says he had the car serviced by his Nissan dealer. They did a good job.
I usually squirt some moly (molybdenum disulphide) in manual transmissions. On some cars it made the transmission run much cooler and smoother to shift. I asked the mechanic to add it to the transmission and the differential. But when car was jacked up I tested and found the diff was a LSD, so I asked him not to add the moly to the diff. We put 3 quarts of Penzoil Synthetic 75-140 in the LSD.
Well, something went wrong and he added the moly, too. Now the back end is jerking as if the diff is locked. It was not doing this before. Can the two events be linked?
Is Penzoil Synthetic gear oil the correct lube for the factory LSD? Is it OK to add some moly to this?
I was surprised whern gear oil drained from the diff. My other cars use auto trans fluid in the LSD.
