I've done the cold air intake with cone filter. That did give me a better acceleration and a tiny increase in gas mileage. Granted, it didn't turn my Z into a Kia Rio or Ford Fusion, but there is a slight increase in MPG. For that to be the by-product of increased HP no matter how slight is a straight up win in my book.

And to be clear, I know I'm not gonna get 40 MPG at 400 WHP....I totally understand that. And I also understand that the money spent on such mods will probably take years in "gas savings" to pay off.

However, I do take out of state trips to foosball tournaments and it would be nice to increase the fuel economy wherever possible.

So what are other mods that produce a similar benefit?

The best mod for MPG is skinny tires, next is a front deflector, then its believe it or not a turbo system with lowered compression. Out of the 3 I mentioned 2 are very doable in a driveway setting especially if its for a particular trip. And generally on larger engines (V6+) mods like an intake and exhaust don't gain you horsepower they just move power around under the curve, you could end up with a couple more HPs at the peak but at the cost of these couple HPs elsewhere in the power band.

I've also been told to get a lightweight aluminum pulley and an E-fan swap to delete the engine fan. Would those have a positive influence on MPG?

Both of those reduce parasitic drag on the engine and though they don't necessarily make the engine perform any more efficiently they will free up a little more power which can, depending on your driving style, turn into MPGs.

Agreed...putting our not-so-svelte ladies on a diet is probably the only MPG solution I know of other than having my right foot cut off :chuckle:
Seriously though, most guys who track the car do various weight reductions and years ago there was a guy here who SERIOUSLY removed some weight from his Z, so there is some possibilities there although I really doubt there is too much of a change for the better possible because the car and engine were not built for economy under any circumstances.
Just one of the things we get to live with as a Z32 owner.
