I took a set of 270 injectors and machined the diffuser screen off: which supposedly makes them 550's. Has anyone else done this?

I used my safc and ran -50% but i am still running a 10.0:1 afr (aem wideband).

Just wanted to know if anyone else had done this and how it worked out. Maybe a little bit of advice. Mine is running way to rich to be a 550 and runs really rough.

Thanks guys

We recently covered this topic on this forum, but I'll recap...

The Nissan injectors don't have an orifice under the diffuser screen, so when you grind off the screen, the pintle has nothing against which to seal. Basically, your injectors are open all the time.

Subaru guys do this mod all the time and it's fine. But it doesn't work for our cars.

Goign to spin a rod bearing on your car. Dumping too much fuel. Check your oil to make sure you don't have gas in it. Stop being sheap and get them from deastchwerks. There is no alternative or free cheap mod for our cars.

i am very cheap and looking to get more fuel in there. I have the kind of girlfriend that literally hates when i spend any money on the car...Im looking to please myself and her at the same time...lol

How come many other turbo cars are using our modified injectors in there cars? Wouldn't they have the same problem?

Sorry bud, turbo and cheap are never in the same sentence. You need to man up or do something else. Basically the method is imprecise, and you will find it impossible to tune. Maybe try some 450's from a DSM with a SOHC rail modded.

Haven't you figured out how to fool your g/f. When she asks abotu your money you say car insurance or gas, or taking her to the movies. Cell phone bill etc. If you are chepa on your ka-t it will go boom and you'll really have to fork out cash then.

Buy a FMU and install a 2:1 disk to up your fuel pressure. Then tune accordingly in the on boost rpm range. This is the cheapest, but far from the best method. But it does work and it is cheap.

Love You

I don't know WD, 2:1 seems plenty safe, and it is a linear increase, so it's not a bad idea. But I think there is more to it than that. At 4:1 each psi = 1% increase in fuel or 27cc/min. Is that enough for each psi of boost? Maybe, depends on your turbo. But I have to go with WD in saying do it right or not at all. I would feel fine with a FMU for low boost on a smaller turbo.

Sounds like you need a new girlfriend. And every KA-T setup I've seen on here (the internet in general), swaps in bigger injectors. No modifying......

I am usually not cheap when it comes to this but i was curious. I have an fmu with 270's right now but i run out of fuel at 7psi....how can i tell what ratio disk i have? Are they marked? I was thinking i should get some 550's from RC...anyone else running these with an safc?

Tons of people running 550's with SAFC. Where did you get the FMU?
