Have recently acquired '94Q with 98K miles, and am looking to do performance modifications. (Also have a 2002Q and an Infiniti serviced '92Q with 190K miles, which may become a "parts donor" for the '94).

I read in earlier postings about Stillen, and would like your input on modifications you would recommend.

I have historically had Miller Infiniti (Van Nuys) service my Q's, but it is a longer hike and would like a recommendation of a local mechanic for the '94Q once modifications have been completed.

FYI - the '94 is for my wife, who loves hot cars. We just restored a '83 TransAm Firebird, a family heirloom (48K miles).

Smith,Congratulations ot your new car and welcome to our club!

Stillen makes a great eninge chip for your model year. They also make a (less popular) TCU.

I would not botehr putting in aftermarket intake and exhaust as the factory ones are very well designed and run pretty free to begin with.

One good performance "mod" that's iften overlooekd:Keep the car in great shape as per plugs, injectors ect.

An maintenance act, as simple as a thourough throttle body cleaning (maybe plenum too) can add real power to a higher mile car.

Fred...:)

PS: You also a a 2k2Q? :thumbup, take pics of both next to ewach otehr and send them in to our members ride section we will gladly post them

also Z-expert in Marina Del Rey is getting familiar with our cars and has worked on Nissan's for 25 years. Richard is the owner, tell him Jeff Leeds' sent you.

For other stuff, daedalus is well recommended.

Thanks Fred & Jeff for the info. Yes, El Segundo is close by (6 miles north). Marina Del Rey is about 10 miles away.

I appreciate the help.

The Q45A rear sway bar and new Tokico blue shocks will make a stunning difference in how your Q handles.

Check with Daedalus first before you go anywhere. He's currently working on my 91 and it's quite impressive as to the level of care and detail he takes when at work. He's truly inspired by the mechanics of the Q, so I guess that's where his real motivation comes from. If he cant do what you need, or is unfamiliar, he will honestly tell you. I've seen the motor torn down for replacement guides and other misc. items & although she hasnt been cranked yet, I'm real confident with the work that's been ongoing this weekend. I'll give report later this week when I get the beast back.

Thanks everyone for the referral

We're still driving the 92Q until the 94Q is in top shape (maybe new paint job?). I also need to find a location to "put to rest" the 92Q when it becomes a parts donor. I will keep your requests in mind.

How do I contact Daedalus? I'm interested in having the 94Q looked at ASAP, if possible, this weekend / Monday. Does he have a shop in El Segundo? Do you have a phone # for him?

Also, do you know how I got "Driving Mom's Car" after my username? I notice you have the same line. Is there a way I can change it? (My mother's dead & it creeps me out) Sorry for the dumb questions. I'm a novice at using these forums.

Dont know how to change your handle. Maybe someone else can answer that one.

Dave's been kind enough to leave out some of the details, like the one where I jumped time on the engine! YIKES!!! Not sure how it happened, except that the cord I had holding the chain slipped and allowed the sprocket to rotate past the chain. Sounded like a damn roller coaster at Magic Mountain! Ugh, it was gut-wrenching. Guys, when you do your guides, do EVERYTHING possible to ensure you don't lose the timing! So I've been pretty busy the past several days...went ahead and removed the valve cover to retime the bank. Dave figured he may as well have both sides done at the same time since they were leaking, and we replaced both chains as well. It was quite an experience, but I did learn a few things. It's cool to play with an engine that's naked on top and front, watching dowel pins in the plug holes rise and fall as you turn the crank by hand!

Does your girl know you have this kind of relationship with a naked engine?
