modification question

In my last post a lot of you guys gave me great information about my car. thanks to all of you. I was just wondering what size tires will fit on my car.thinking about 19 o 20 8.5. Also if the Y-pipe is legal and will pass smog in California. I was also wondering if anyone knows if the auto transmission will hold up to all of these modifications.

Auto trans will be fine. Keep in mind, the large rim you go usually the more it weighs. More weight = slower car.

If you're going to put larger rims on, take a look at this tire guide: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

You can input the stock size and figure out what the equivilant larger size would be. You need to be +/-3% at most for the speedometer to match up while driving.

Example: 19x9.5 Rim

215/60/16 would be 255/35/19

The speedo would read 0.5% too fast. When it reads 60mph you'd actually be going 59.7mph.
