Hey everyone, just got my first s14. I like it a lot. problem is that its a 96, which means that i have OBD2. I would like to know what exactly i can get away with as far as engine mods, also if its possible to do a manual swap with an obd2 system. Though currently my biggest issues are with the braking, so i am planning on doing a 300zx swap, and also suspension work, since right now its spongy stock. Way down the line, of course, an LSD swap. Anyways any advice from anyone who has dealt with the 96 s14 and managed to come out with a tight setup, would be appreciated. peace.

Well my previous car was obdII. Basically as long as all the sensors are hooked up and you have a cat between your o2 sensors you will be fine. NA mods are no problem. If you run a header put a real cat downstream and relocate one of your o2 sensors behind it. You can also use JWT for your ecu tuning and not have any issues. KAT won't be a problem either as long as all sensors are present and functioning and provided you didn't ghetto rig anything. 5 spd swap might be a little more difficult seeing how obdII is very sensitive to changes. If it were me and you wanted to do it right I would replace the harness with a 5spd obdII harness, 5spd ecu, and do the swap right so you have no check engine lights or any other stupid issues.

I had my 98 240 since 16k miles and did all the NA mods and had no problems right up till the day it got totalled

Do you happen to know anyone in california who has done the manual swap on a 96 by completely changing the wiring harness? i just don't want to end up having to take this thing to the bar. also would you mind explaining what a JWT is i'm a newbie for the most part so my knowledge is limited.

http//www.jimwolftechnology.com They do ECU tuning, cams, etc. I do not know anyone in california that can perform such a swap. It really isn't that difficult.
