Is there a way that an e-gas TB can be modified to be cable driven??? Basically i am finding out if i can swap a VQ35 from a 2004 maxima into a infiniti I35 2001 that does not have drive by wire TB.

I have read on maxima.org about replacing the e-gasTB with a pathfinder TB. But have not been able to find out how its done.

PS i am gettting the complete engine harness, ecu and transmission but my car does have a CAN system.

your throttle by wire is tied into the ECM if the ECM does not see the motor operation it will limit timing advance and injector pulse width. You will need to have the ECU reprogramed for your specific desires. You would be better getting the throttle pedal and throttle body and avoid the reprogram. You will have a constant check engine light without the can system. What you are trying to do is pretty complex as the two cars are completely different technology wise. The 04 is far more advanced in control unit communication. you would be better off grabbing all the wiring under the hood including the IPDM. If the IPDM is present you will have the can terminating resistors at both ends of the circuit as the other one is located in the ECM. If you can manage to get an ECM from a manual trans max it will be somewhat easier to do this swap. You will still be missing the BCM and meter unit which will still cause can code but wont turn on you check engine light or hamper engine/trans performance.

With all that said it is still an extremaly complex task you are trying to accomplish and will require some dough.

Thanks for your reply.

I am getting the engine with a manual ECU. The engine is coming from a crashed 2004 maxima SE with a 6-speed box. Currently my car has the VQ20 with Auto transmission in it. So u see it's a big step up. now it's a nissan dealer mechanic who doing the swap and he told me it's possible once i get the pedals to go along with the engine. Then i told him its from a LHD car(my car is RHD) and he told me it couldn't be done, something about the angle of the pedals and the sensor for the e-gas system.

I was actually looking for a complete VQ30DE-K to buy but couldn't come across a complete engine with harness, etc. Read it's a much easier swap as my car already has the VIAS system.

As a side note i have a Greddy E-manage Ultimate that would be wired in once the car is up and running.
