K the two left lights mean it's overheated and thats supposed to happen, install the mobo back into the metal case with the fans and then power it up and see if its stable. Also make sure the bolts you used on the heatsinks don't short out on the mobo tray, I had to drill holes in the bottom so they ahd room.

If you used the exact part #'s from the guide it should clear no problem but I didn't feel like taking any chances.

yes when i tried it with out the video cable the whole thing shot off front lights and all now let me see if this makes a difference i cleaned all the thermal compund off on the top of the chips i did i with alcohal and q tips but on the sides of the chips i picked some of the big stuff off with a eye glasses screw driver once i was down to the small stuff then i used alcohal q tip method there were no real visable scratchs or anything but was that a bad idea

i didn;t know tho if i put some small scratchs in it with the screw driver not visable but you know there fragile things i didnt' think that the top case was all that important obviously i was careful but a couple times it sounded like it was scratching it but nothing visable so i dontt know

Naw I doubt you did any damage, even with visible scratches the current will still flow through the pcb most of the time Is it still giving the two red lights or has it powered up yet?

You could try putting a bit more pressure on the heatsink screws but its also possible and more probable that the towel/baking damaged the temp probe for either the cpu or gpu, it should never overheat that fast even without the fan or heatsink installed.

Yeah it thinks its overheating but I don't know why its happening so fast, is the dvd drive connected? if not try connecting it then powering it on.

i need to start checking my threads i havent been keeping up

alright

i dont know why you would ever BAKE it

you only BAKE it if you want to fry **** and send it back to microsoft to fix it under warranty

i modded my XBOX after mine has wnet back twice for the red ring and after that i said **** it and fixed it myself

they make red ring of death fix kits which involves a few washers and nuts to help fix the X brace on the processing chip
