well the time has come in a man's life when he must make an important decision, do i turbo my truck-like KA, or swap it out in favor of a lighter, stronger, already turbo-charged CA18 or SR20? well, after months of careful research, ive made my decision. not on which engine yet, but that a KA thats n/a is the way it should stay because it becomes unreliable at high boost. So CA or SR? ill figure it out later. My big problem now is that the cash that i do have is BURNING A HOLE IN MY POCKET and i need to mod my car. suspension is on the way, but i need to go faster. im looking for transferable mods, but i dont know what else i can really do except NOS, which im plannin on too... ( Its a quick fix i know, but ill be safe with a 50 or 75 shot. ) Anyone know if a cat-back for a KA will work for an SR without custom piping? I know i should just save my money for later, but who really does that anyway? Is it worth it to buy anything now?

apex dual cat back will work good for either engine. actually any apex will, but i just like the dual. apex is good for increasing flow with a turbo. ask these questions in ka or sr specific rooms though.

Hahaha, damn, you had me going.

Supposedly the KA doesn't live longer than 18months without blowing, requiring a rebuild. Dunno why, that's what most people say. As for the exhaust, I think they are transferable, but make sure to get something that's 3" or bigger. HKS Dragger, 5Zigen Fireball, A'Pexi N1, Blitz NUR Spec, etc.

You've got quite a few choices. Please note that those exhausts will be pretty damned loud with a N/A application, so be wary.

Hope I helped.

Nick.

ahh this sux, I wanted to go the easiest/cheaper route for me, but if the KA cant handle a turbo, I dont want that. I dont want the SR, due to jap only market. The CA im still debating. I just want to be able to run 12s, 13s. Is it true about the KA blowing/rebuilding liek every year?? Or is that due to bad management?

I've got a SR20DET with a T04R now and I'm passing my HKS GT 2530 to my good friend here with a KA.

I was wondering what are the stuff required to run the KA at a moderate boost of around 7~ 10 psi? Can he run on stock internals?

I've got spare 370cc injectors from my SR, (I'm using 440cc now) can it fit his KA?

I plan to do this project by the end of the year, and I can have the answer to SR vs KA-T discusstion with a side by side comparison..

my $0.02 pesos...........

Why invest all this money into a motor that the rest of the world gets stock? True, you're getting a really bulletproof motor that can handle lots of boost, at an ok price. But the people on the other side of the owrld must be laughing at us all!

KA-T on the other hand would be exclusive to N.America. I've heard alot of people say its reliable and vice versa. So why not invest your cash, and have something the rest of the world would envy?

Or take the safe route and get an SR. I'm still undecieded. When Greddy releases their turbo kit for the KA, I'll probably have a better idea then (when ever that may be).

...........do I get any change back?
