Probably a no brainer, but when it comes to cars I am a no brainer. If the option was available, would you install a stillen cat back exhaust or an air intake system on a 2006 G35X sedan? Thanks

Both are a must. I started with an intake first though, but I knew I was eventually going to get the Stillen, which I did. And LOVED it!

+2 on the intake first...it's an easy mod! Is your car a 6MT or AUTO?

They make good products at a premium. Intake alone really doesn't do crap from a performance perspective, just makes more noise.

Here is what I'm looking at getting. Let me know which you think will provide the best bang for its buck

HKS hi-power dual rear section 32003-BN001- $900 installed (Canadian)

OR

Takeda intake TR-3001P - $300 installed

Please let me know which you would do. Thanks

You are getting ripped on the HKS exhaust. 32003-BN001 is listed on the HKS site with a $735 MSRP ($771 Canadian) . I've seen it listed online for mid $500-US.

Takeda is a standard short-ram. It sells around $200-US online (not sure if that includes the heat shield).

From an installation perspective it's a piece of cake to install either of them. No reason to pay others for something you can do yourself with some hand tools. Seems like they are ripping you a new hole on installation charges.

My prices:

Takeda intake shipped to Canada $225.00 U.S. for either Black or Polished.

I could be competitive with the Exhaust but unfortunately it is out of stock and would have to come from HKS and its the shipping charges killing the deal.

Install the intake yourself and save even more money, 30 min job.

now that you mention that, that exhaust is for the 07-08 sedan, it will not work on the 06, period.

So the HKS hi-power dual rear section 32003-BN001 wont fit on my 06 g35? that was the exhaust system that I was told would fit by the people at this particular performance parts store who quoted me.

NO, it won't fit. The only true dual exhausts for the 03-06 sedans are borla & stillen and they both exit on the same side. That HKS Hi power dual exhaust is for 07+ sedans, completely different configuration on exhaust than 1st gen sedans. Sounds like this performance parts store needs to do more home work.

The '03-06 sedan has a single exhaust/muffler system while the '07+ has duals. Per the HKS site, 32003-BN001 is only for the '07+ dual exhaust models. I really don't see where HKS even sells a full catback for the '06 sedan at all.

They don't. The only HKS exhaust for the 1st gen sedan is the axle back.
