Getting my HG, valve guide seals, and timing chain replaced. Also getting standard valve job. I was thinking, since most of the head is going to be taken apart, I was thinking of going cams. Tomei 256 11.5mm lift lash type with BC spring and Ti retainer kit and new valves. I have T25 which explains why I am going 256 duration. But in the future will these cams still give me a "good enough" flow for 2871r? I ask this because i dont want to have to take apart the head again and buy new cams if i upgrade turbo. Daily Driver. Thx nico members for any help provided.

if your going to go through the trouble of upgrading springs and retainers atleast get 264s since stock is like 246 or something.

256's are too little for the 2871r imo..i'd go with 264's..if you think about it you dont have to take apart your head to change the cams..its actually quite simple..valve cover comes off and the cams are sitting right there..just gotta take the timing chain and cam caps off and swap the sprockets to the new cams

So, the motor will be running "OK" if I get Brian Crower 264 duration and 12.06mm lift cams and still be running the T25 turbo for couple months till I can put in a 2871r? (money sucks). It was between Tomei's or BC cams. thx

sorry for the thread jack here, but i was wonderin if any one recommends running a staggard setup 256in/264 out on the 2871r or the gtrs? Or if 264/264 is the only way to go?

i went with 256in/264out and loved it. good low end and it still pulled hard all the way to redline (7500rpm)

although with my new setup, i am doing 264/272
