Hey, I'm kinda new to all this so, first, i just wanted to say hi!! :)
I just got a '09 Altima coupe (black, 2.5s) for my birthday (17!!) and I've seriously been wanting some cool mods or something to, ya know, make it mine. Problem is, I'm on a SERIOUS budget (I only have a part time minimum wage job). So far I put some wheel well LED's on, and thats about it. So my question is: what kind of stuff should i be looking for?? and where should I be looking for it?? Any suggestions would be great.

welcome, I guess the first question you should ask yourself is whether you want performance or cosmetics? Then go on from there. There are tons of threads on here about different types of mods.

Now like Hung's has said... Cosmetic or Performance.... Or Audio?

I had opted to go with performance first... HOWEVER i knew my budget. And i had it set aside.

Luckily for me, I had hauled serious a** at work and was able to pull together even MORE to my budget. ATM All my Cosmetic stuff is on. nice price of $1300.00 (paint and installed). No rims were added to this. I want to get used to my ride before i buy rims and do all the fancy doo dad stuff.

My performance... Everything imaginable off of Racinglineperformance.ca for $1000.00 Pending sale/meet up with Joe. Greddy SE from XenonSE-R ($850.00 after currency conversion) NISMO Intake $350, Eibach Lowering Springs $220. Beautiful total of $2420.00 BEFORE install and probably maybe an extra $150 for isome odds and ends i cant install (like springs)/alignments.

My audio is my last stop and that will be full and proper build.... Lots of ideas but nothing will move forward till i save up 5,000 at least (just in case) ;) go big or go home. Do your best not to cheap out and build slowly rather then quickly. I was able to because i had the funds to. Take your time young one. and drive safely.

and not to be a kicker of balls.... but wheel well lights? really?

I'll prolly gonna get a lot of hate for this, but It's a 2.5, go for looks. Only performance mod I recommend is the intake + exhaust so it can sound nice. Go for lowering kit + wheels/tires.

lol nothing wrong with a 2.5, i too own a 2.5 but yea...nothing much you can really do performance wise for the 2.5. Also depends if you have the manual or the CVT. Manual has a bit more flexibility if your going with performance, ie. turbo. although its possible with CVT, i think theres a thread about it.

For me I opted to go with the smaller cheaper stuff first. Fog lights, HIDs, Exhaust, and have an intake just not installed yet, cause i got lazy, now its summer and its too hot.

Honestly, intake doesn't take more than 20 mins to install. And yes, performance mods is kind of useless in terms of performance since they also restricted full open throttle to, i believe, %80 + the governor tops off at 110 unless you get a Bully Dog Tuner, which I've considered it but then realized its not worth the money unless I had a 3.5.

In the meantime, the mods I DO have is a Takeda intake + Nismo Exhaust catback. There is a tiny little noticeable increase in performance, but if thats the only reason why you want these mods, don't waste your time.

p.s. I got lucky. If you can find a Nismo exhaust, best of luck to you.

wow that sounds really good, like exactly what I want! It's really subtle compared to some others. Can't you just buy these new still?

I'm sure you can, I think what I meant to say is that Nismo stopped making these exhausts. But I think a simple google search you can still find these new somewhere.

Yea I did, and for some stupid reason its taking you to the cover I made of Foo Fighters 8-bit version. I just now noticed that myself. Did you find the exhaust video?

I got a great deal on a K&N intake from a friend of mine for $150 so thats taken care of. I'm thinking about an exhaust but which one has the most bang for my buck??
Yea yea yea, i know its a 4-banger but hey, i didn't pick it. What should i do for looks?? its super black so im thinking of going all black with tints and smoked rims....advice?

(dont hate on the wheel well lights, they look pretty cool and make it feel more.... mine)
