Is there such a thing as Mobile 1 Automatic Transmission Fluid? I went to the local Kragen store, and all they store are Penzoil and Valoline ATF. The service guy also looked up for what's required, and he said that the Q needs AF3. Is that the same as Decron III? Also, he said that the transmission needs 10.7 quarts for a complete fluid replacement, but there isn't any "quart" amount specified for a flush other than the generic statement "measure how much is drain and replace accordingly". Can someone offer more insight?

Yes, there is a Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. It should be fine for the first-gen and second-gen Q45 (but not the latest, as that needs Nissan Fluid J for sure).

Check Pepboys - that is where I got mine.

You need at least 14 quarts for a proper ATF flush (28 if you do a double flush and refill - which is what I tried to do with my Q45 transmission ... before it died - too late for the flush!). If just a simple drain and fill, then you need about 7 quarts as I recall. You can always buy extra and return the unused bottles, right?

Autozone carries Mobil 1 ATF. I always call ahead and ask them to pool the inventory from a couple of stores because they rarely have 16 quarts at one store.

A simple drain and refill uses 2.75-3.5 quarts depending on how long you let the drain dribble. 10 minutes or 6 hours.

That is not a "flush", i.e. - a mechanical fluid exchange. 14 qts. depending on the machine. Read the posts.

Dont' forget the other parts required, including the external ATF cooler.

Car Quest is another good source. They also have a decent Y33 ATF filter kit (filter, gasket and O-ring) for under 30 bucks.

It's strange that many auto parts stores don't keep more than a dozen quarts in stock at any particular time, since just one vehicle will require at least that much. Apparently, "full fluid flush" is a concept that most car owners have never heard of...

BTW, my Y33 loves the Mobil 1 ATF - Produces VERY nice shifts.
