As I start to mate the transmission back to the engine after replacing the torque converter I want to know if Mobil 1 is still a good replacement for Nissan Matic-D? In the past I always read that it was best to use that in place of OEM to help with longevity.

I haven't heard anything that would make me choose something else.

One of the reasons I asked was because I was reading a while back about how Mobil 1 was changing the composition of their transmission fluid and members here were not sure if that would be a cause for concern. I forgot where I read it on here but I figured the question would be answered by the time I got to this point in re-assembly. I believe it was almost 2 years ago when I had read about it.

You're right about some changes... I'm not sure what to tell you.

I did a google search and read several pages over at the "Bob is the Oil Guy" forum.

According to Mobil's web site, it meets Dexron specifications, so I'm confident you won't mess anything up using it. It also meets JASO 1-A, which I've been reading is sort of the gold standard for ATF at this point, so I'd guess that it is still a good fluid. But I have no idea if it's still the best bang for the buck...
