Update on my car project:-recently installed a new o2 sensor, hotshot header.-Dyno tuned vehicle

new pics one I resize them.

dyno output figures for today:

160.4 peak HP@5600 rpm160 lb/ft of torque@4300rpm

I gained only 3hp peak and 4 lb/ft of torque from the header and tuning, but AFter comparing the dyno to my old one, after tuning(in both cases) I gained 8hp from 2500-3700rpm and 6hp where it tapers off from 6100 on to redline. THis was nice, car feels much smoother, and does seem to die in the uper RPMs nearly as much.

Man, to each their own. Not trying to flame but thats kinda incentive for me to not bother doing anything to my 240 by route of NA.

But then again I'm too used to my LT1, what other stuf you got done to your car?

edit: my apologies, just seen you have a 93. don't they have like 120-odd to the wheels stock? If so, then due tell what you have done :)

ps - dynos are fun to toy around with aren't they...

yeah 160/160 isnt too shabby for a KA24DE....but it still cant touch my friend LPE LT1 :( (450hp and 502 lb.ft) but its pretty danged quick.

yeah, stock I baselines at 127 hp and 130torque.

here is the list:APex-i intake(currenty undergoing revision)Nology wires and coilJun flywheelApex-i N-1 exhausttest pipeHotshot headers(duh, see first post)apex-i S-afc for tuningAlluminum driveshaft

and other stuff that really doesnt matter(suspensio tidbits and things)

not too bad. Im going to get a Z32 or cobra MAF soon, and redo the intake piping a bit for pre-turbo stuff..should yeild another .5 hp! hehe.pics soon guys.-chet

Exar-kun where did you put the new O2 sensor? Where did Hotshot put the bung holes? On my header hotshot put two bung holes, one on the y pipe and one on the collector. The back o2 was supposed to be in the collector but this does not work very well for an OBD 2 system because my front o2 could only read the back two cylinders so I "lost" the back o2 and made myself a longer harness to place my front o2 in the collector pipe to read ALL cylinders. This made my car run so much better and I plugged the front bung hole. I was just curious where Hotshot put the holes for the OBD 1 system.

+33 to the wheels is great! good stuff chet, good stuff :)

you should concider some lightweight drivetrane components, get some more of that crank power to the wheels.

Oh a drive shaft! thats why he is getting nice power. A lighter drive shift will free up some nice HP!

I dont know about the S14 header, given the emissions OBD or whatever, I would think they would mak the header different, so i cant speak for that. (did that make sense) but the 02 sensor goes in the exhaust pipe for cyl number 3 I think, on my header.

yeah, I got the 4x4 package...I hate that fender gap, but until I can afford a set of coilovers(the ones I want run 1800+) its there to stay. :(

hehe, the actual dyno cahrt and the a/f ratio should be up sometime soon guys.-chet

well theres the JIC fl- sumthin or other, apex'i N-1s, Teins with EDF...yeah suspensions are expensive, there are cheaper ones, but those are the top contenders amongst the full coilovers

Just flip a coin between the n1 and the cusco, then between that winner and the tein. Then do it all over again 4 more times and pick which one came up most :)

Yea, I dont understand why HS plumbs the o2 where it can only read two cylinders this means the ECU can only read 1/2 of what is really happening! I think in order for any ECU to get the BEST reading it would need to read on ALL cylinders. Im going to send HS a email and ask them why they do that.

160hp to the wheels? Damn I didnt know you can get that much without forced induction or rebuilding. Good job.

That's great. I hear people putting folks down for doing NA mods for the KA, saying it's too much $$$ for too little power, but you've gotta realize that if you go turbo all of the stuff you did NA (except the header, duh) will help you with boost, too.

hey, exar. Do you know how much extra power the safc helped squeeze out? Would you recommend it for someone who might end up staying NA?

when i first installed it(before the header, new 02, and other small things) it netted me 4hp. 4hp isnt a lot, but I was able to gain around of 3-7hp through the power band, and once I put the header on, I gained 9hp in some areas after tuning correctly.

I'd say its worth it, if nothing else, to keep the power band smoother(more areaq under the curve).-chet

cool, thanks for the info. Do you need dyno time to tune it?

It helps but you can do street tuning with an EGT gauge and a decent A/F Gauge like the Greddy unit.

Chet, I'm getting a 91 KA engine... gonna take the head off and give it a little work over then put it on the 96 to see if I can best or match your numbers. :)
