I wanted to make a post with something interesting and witty about cars, but it didn't work. Anyone other than me on here play the drums? Been at it for six years, and I love it more than my car. Mostly marching Drum Corp type stuff, but man I can throw down the type of beats on my set you only wish you could bump in your car. Drummers are so underappriciated for the amount of responsibility that they have in a musical setting. I don't know how many of you that are reading this are familiar with musical terms, but if you are, then note that drummers are solely responsible for the tempo of any ensemble the are in. We are like the unsung hero of the band, the glue that holds it all together. To put it in car terms for all of you car people, we are the nuts and bolts. No matter how freakin' modded out and pimp your ride is, the first time you drive it anywhere without it being bolted together, it will fall to peices and you will die. (You probably wont die, but it sounded good.)

<---- Sax player / drummer.

Had a nice (old) Gretsch set that you could park a truck on top of.... Miss it terribly.

Flam, flam, flam, perididdle, trip-a-let, trip-a-let, crash! :)

Whoa! Greg, I used to play Alto Sax! CRAZY! I still pick it up rarely, probably will more as I get older.

I was naturally a drummer, should have been one in band. I wish I had a set to mess around on. I'm pretty good naturally, so if I had one to mess on, I'd get better pretty quick. One day I will, along with my 6 zillion guitars. I wish I had a band... 240kid has heard some of my music, I SO need a band...

That's freakin' cool. (Except woodwinds blow...literally) I just came into posseion of two classic ludwig parade snares that I am refinishing. They are going to be gorgeous. One in red mahogoney and one in deep black laquer.

Woodwinds> drumline

Okay, BS. Drumline is the shizzite. Why wasn't I a drummer? Oh yeah, cause my older bro did that... STUPID ME! I wish I could rejoin band and be in the drumline for a couple years... but that'd take commitment, and the band director is an ***, so...

edit: Singing isn't my problem, sadly. Cause if it was, and if I was a crappy writer, I could focus more on guitar. You will all hear of me someday... watch out for Grey Sheep (gotta love the totally screwball name! probably will change though)...

I played drums for around 12 years, but I haven't much recently. I did everything, from garage bands in high school, to jazz bands, orchestra work, and a lot of marching ands and a smaller drum corps.I had a ****ty remo set that I sold for a couple hundred to help me afford my first s13 3 years ago.

I'd seriously kill for a garage band... grrrr... none of my friends have the same musical taste as me... I'm sorry, but only so much Metallica before I get bored.

The propper term is band geek. I always wanted to play the drums. I always wanted to be able to play any instrument.

Go buy a cheap set, seriously.

I think everyone should play an instrument. It's such a stress reliever, and such a release. Write your own music too, that way you don't have to search for a song that fits your mood or says just what you want, you can write one.

I write a lot of music, but I'm so inexperienced it all comes out one style, so i like to play a lot of different stuff, to be more culturally enlightened...i like several of matt savage's tenor solos and one of his cadences. i also like the fact that dennis delucia taught them to me, and said i have some of the best hand (for drumming) he's ever seen on a high school student.

I've always been a bit of a writer, so lyrically, writing came naturally.

Musically I always liked to just mess around. I hate learning other bands songs (except to impress a lady), so I just write my own. My riffs are great, but my leads need work... if I had a good lead guitarist and a good bassist, I could help a half *** drummer write his stuff, so long as he could tap it out right. Grrr... I need a band....

edit: $100 set sounds soooo tempting... lol.. my parents would kill me... maybe I'll ask my dad about it...

I'm one of those freaks who will have a whole basement full of instruments and music and stuff. Tons of guitars, probably a few sets, a few saxes, God knows what else...

man, i'm sure with a little luck i could track down a drummer in your area, your just not lookin hard enough though...i have lots of contacts through PAS and innovative percussion and even WGI. If you need one that bad, head to a local place that gives drum lessons and put up a sigh, same with the guitarist and bassist.

honestly if you really like drums you should spring for a pearl forum or lower line yamaha set, the only way i would sell you a sunlite is if you let me fix it up first...for free, but youd have to pay for parts, total it would still be less han 200$ but you could prolly get a forum or little yamaha for that. or buy a used set off ebay, ebay always pulls out.

yeah pearl and yamaha kits have gotten so cheap, why bother with crap stuff?500 will give you a sweet kit these days. You can also get stuff cheap used.

Anyway as far as "band nerd" goes, all the people in marching band at my highschool were getting laid far more frequently then the rest of the population. As far as the female band membes went, I was responsible for most of it.lolI miss those long bus trips...*sigh*

I've been playing guitar and trumpet since 5th grade (gonna be a college Sophomore) and I've kinda started playing piano on my own as well.

I also play a mean "Wipeout" with my hands and anything within reach.

Must be something about Disney... our band went to Disneyland and a bunch of us got busted for drinking in our rooms. Still don't know how I managed to not get caught for that one. :)
