sooo my goodies arrived from Jegs today and decided to install everything and powder coat my covers. I also got my sandblaster working again.

Heres my covers sand blasted.

Than it was onto the Gold Vein Base Coat.

After letting it cool off I added the Candy Red top coat.

And now the PCV exhaust system.

Ok....not to copy your setup completely ....but.....how much would you charge to replicate your work; male AN bungs welded in and all coated in a color of our choosing?...(we supply the stainless lines/AN 90degree angles).

valve covers look amazing.

but isnt the pcv setup a little farther downstream then usual?

any reason?

I was doing some research the other day, I think you may run into complications with the pcv valve setup where it is, I dont think its going to work for its intended purpose...

Have a read of this wiki

Unless I am reading it wrong...

In turbocharged applications it's necessary to place the tubes farther back in the system due to the disruption of airflow caused by the turbine wheel. In n/a applications you would place it much farther up to take advantage of increased velocity...

Just like Bwana said and also the reason is because if I did it further up it would be in front of my O2 sensor. Definatly not a good idea :P

I had the fittings on the valve cover tig welded by a local welding shop. However the fittings and PCV system was mig welded by me.

I did some WOT throttle runs yesterday and high rpm driving so far no smoke.

when/if it smokes it wont be under load rather at idle.

I had my valve covers sent to a catch tank first though, then suction/venturi on tank from the midpipe.

perhaps thats what created issues for me, who knows.

I ended up routing the intake breather back to pcv, exhaust remained crankcase evac route.

p.s. if you dont mind me asking how much did the weld shop charge you to weld those fittings in?

$25 plus $5 Tip. Very nice welds. The guy used to work for Steeda so he's familiar with the Autmotive industry.

I went out today to check for leaks, smokes etc etc doesnt smoke in idle or upper rpms. One of the members here told me to put a boost gauge line where the dipstick goes and try and measure vacuum. I didnt have a spare gauge but I put my finger and I could notice a slight suction.

That's awesome, I never thought to do that. Basically this is free power by means of better ring seal. nice.

Ummmm, yeah this wiki has referenced links to documented facts.

Do you believe what people post on forums without references to documentation?

i was asking my question based on where i have seen them located on supras. i remember them being closer to the turbine.

just curious, im might look into them further on my vg30 if i decide to keep it.

The evac system is healthier for the motor, instead the gases going back into the intake system and contaiminating the fuel mixture, it would be burnt up in the exhaust. Helps with piston rings sealing and adds horsepower thanks to the increase in compression. Dyno Queen Supras have seen gains of 60hp by adding this system.

Look at the pic you'll see both intake and exhaust are routed.

I had no blow by issues before this install, I figure my motors been good to me might as well give some love back. Plus I think it adds a bit of Bling Factor to the engine bay.

I did mine that far downstream because the O2 sensor is recommended to be 36" from the turbo, and adding this evac system would fubar the O2 if I put it before it.

A lot of Hot Rodders do it so its definatly worth it. The kit wasnt much $40 for the Evac system, $60 in fittings, $20 in weld on bungs, $20 in SS hose, and $25 welding charge. so $165 for some extra ponies, healthier engine, and get rid of the gun in the intake manifold.

Theirs 2 Check Valves, the 2nd one is near the transmission thus why you cant see it. I'll take a pic later.

So, just so that I am nt going crazy, Someone above asked if you woul duplicate your setup for them if they sent you there covers. If you were to do that for them, how much would you charge? The reason I am asking, is that it makes things look much much nicer as wll as remove some craziness from the top of the bay.

BTW, I have the Euro head and I have some serious craziness going on up there. I checked the covers that I got from someone here o the forum and they are exactly like the ones on my car now, just nicer. I plan on taking advantage of your podwercoating services anyway, so I figured I would ask. Thanks.

Theirs a few things to consider when doing this setup. 1. If you live in a state where you have to be Emission tested yearly or whenever you can not use this system. You will Fail.

Im in Florida we have no emission testing thus why I went ahead with it.

After that I can coat the covers and have the fittings welded on but I would need the car for me to make the lines.

I feel you. I will have a way to beat the emissions test if I decide to go back to MD ( I believe it is bi-yearly, but I haven't been living there for quite some time now) after I am finished with the military, but I plan on retiring in FL anyway, so that is good to know. As far as the lines to be made, th length that you used should be fine, as I will be following your setup anyway. Thanks for the heads up.

i still have a a year and some change b4 my next emissions... so i wont worry...id also wouldnt mind replicating this...bling factor is nice to...
