The tie rod ends on my 91 240sx hatchback are coated in tar, and the bushings are completely corroded. I decided it was time to replace them, and got some new ones from NAPA. It seems that I was given 2 differents brands of the tire rods, but they are both the correct type. The construction of them look sightly different, and one has a castle nut and cotter pins like the stock ends. The other has a standard nut. Is it okay to use them together, or should I go and be sure to get the same brand. Are they possibly built under different tolerances that need to be alike to keep my steering correct?

get the one's with the cotter pins. do not trust to just that nut. unless its one of those with the thin nut and u can still use the cotter pin. then its good.

i doubt that those are any better than your old stock one's when they were new. but dont run those things without the pins. its just not safe.
