you have got to be kidding me right? you beat stock gsx's on a daily basis with a stock 240. :bsflag

I hate to call out on you brother but that is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. Either the person you were racing couldn't drive for sh**, had an automatic, or you are a straight up liar. A m/t gsx from 90-94 put down around 195-200 hp at the crank, a m/t gsx from 95-99 put down around 205-210 at the crank (stock). A stock 240 w/a ka24de put out 170 hp at the crank (i believe). A $45 boost controller, $40 k&n filter, and some free mods (i.e. fuel pump rewire, hacked mas, hacked filter cover) and a good driver can put down 13 second et's on a 1/4 mile. Put the same effort into a 240 and you get ........... a whole lot of wheelspin and maybe mid to high 14's depending on the driver.

And yeah, some eclipses are easy to beat, they're called rs' s and gs's (which have the same motor as a neon), that would be like bragging about beating a honduh with i/e.

My experience with 240's vs. eclipses. My 1996 240sx (stock) vs. my friends 1995 gs-t (stock)..........I got killed every time. Every single time we raced he beat my ***, it was embarrassing. At the local 1/8 mi. track the best I could muster out of my 240 was a 10.7 because of wheelspin, the best I could muster out of my 1990 tsi awd(stock) was a 10.01 with a slipping clutch.

And again, my point is you shouldn't bash on an entire community b/c of a single or couple of races. Over on dsmtalk I have never seen anyone bash a 240, everyone respects them for their potential. You just have to remember that there are different models of eclipses, saying you beat an rs/gs with i/e is rediculous. But stock vs. stock with the same driver, a gsx or gst will win any day of the week. legal disclaimer: Again I'm not bashing on 240's, but I hate to see people who characterize an entire community based on few experiences with that community. If you want to bash talons/eclipses go right ahead, but I will correct you on your bs.

that's what i've always wondered. and the bad thing is that we have 2 1/8 mile tracks within 25 miles of each other and 0 1/4 mile tracks. wtf:mad: oh well, at least the hotties still show up

so Nebraska240sx you're completely stock? then you're racing the wrong dsm's. There's an eclipse here in Louisville that a lot of the 240 guys here couldn't touch in the 1/8 or 1/4...but it's not stock either. He's well over 20psi. The LS crowd can back me up on this one.

I'm not bashing eclipses, I am bashing the fact of there are way to many of them, and that a 240 is rarer that an eclipse,

Only mods I have is a new lightweight flywheel and and a stage two clutch going in this week, most eclipses i have raced are rs or gs, but i have beat a 1992 gsx but I think it may have been an auto??? not for sure though, and they way the guy drove, mabey he missed second, mabey i got lucky

I've never seen a GSX auto, but I'd buy the fact that he missed second, DSM's have great engines, and s***ty transmissions. The second gear syncro is the first thing to go on those things. It can get bad enough that you have to skip it, or spend some time getting it in. The transmission on those needs rebuilt soon after the car is drivin hard.

i've only driven a eclipse rs m/t. it doesn't have the beef or awd like the gsx but it's built on the same platform. they feel good around corners and light on their feet. which is a bonus as nissan seems to be cursed with cars with eating disorders.:( i bet the GSX is fun to drive hard but i must stick with my nissan roots.

the first generation gsx's did come with either a m/t or a a/t. the m/t had a 14b turbo (arguably the best turbo on a dsm so far) and the a/t came with a 13b, a slightly smaller, less laggy turbo. and as we all know, automatics tend to be slower than manuals anyways, but the turbo is the main power robbing culprit in this case though.

yeah, I agree that a modified 240 is harder to come by than a modified eclipse. I don't really mind that though, the 240's are beautiful cars.

well, this is reasonably true to a point. my car is a 1990 with 176,xxx miles and yeah 2nd gear is kind of warn but it's not that bad. these transmissions can hold over 700 hp easily, stock. the turbo trix gsx, john shephards gsx, and lots of guys will tell you these transmissions hold up to the power the motors put out. it's the drivetrain that's kind of bad, from 90-92 we had a weak 3-bolt rearend that doesn't hold much power. from 93 up (i think) we got a 4 bolt rear, which is much stronger and usually put on the earlier 1st gens.

Daunttless-good point, but buddhists would never let a car force them to take longer hours, get a harder job, etc... because it causes material greed.

Nietsche? I'll be studying his works in awhile, but I'm stuck on Sartre right now.

understandable, different people have different wants for their cars. i love to drift too (damn i miss my 240), now i just gotta learn in my awd.....hell i'm even considering going on to the meet here in knoxville in january (up to deal's gap, "the dragon") just for ****s and giggles. hopefully there'll be a lot of 240's there, should be fun.:D
