Hey Man! I saw your Album and love the way placed the Garmin GPS. Can you please let me know how you did that? What about the power source? I am planning to purchase Garmin, but hate to stick it on the glass window.

ok...I'll try, but its difficult to get specific without showing you somepictures that I haven't taken yet...

...but, here goes...

First and foremost.....now think about this.....you will NOT be using your Garmin that much unless you NEVER know where you are going....mostof the time you don't need it, right? It's only used occassionally. That said, why then do you think you need to have it plugged in to yourpower socket all the time.....you really don't. The Garmin internal rechargeable battery lasts a really long time.....what I do is give it a full charge, disconnect the power wire (and store it in my console), use theGarmin for a long time, and then when the battery indicator on the screenshows the battery getting low, I just recharge it .....do this and you don'tneed that UGLY power wire slop'n up your dash.....imho.

Now, as far as the mounting, I used 1"wide industrial strength velcro fromHome Depot to secure the unit to my dash. It is very light, and the velcrois very strong so the unit doesn't move or vibrate or come loose, its verysecure and mounted there, the satelite reception is great. The mount that comes with the Garmin is a 2-piece mount, I only usethe piece that attaches to the unit, (it has the recharge socket). I apply the velcro to the curved rear of that half of the mount.

Thats all I do guys.....it works fine, stays secure, and looks clean....

Amazon sells a Garmin portable mount (search for Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount) that just sits on your dash. You can toss the whole thing...the GPS, the mount, the CLA charger...into the Rogue's glove box when not in use without even removing the GPS from the holder. So it's completely out of sight when not needed.

Plus, you can sit it anywhere on the dash you want at any given time.

It doesn't move around, either. I gave it a good workout on winding roads and over mountains last week, sitting it in between the instrument cluster and the center vents, on top of the two center vents, and on the passenger side of the dash. Never moved once.

Like Roguemonster, I have a garmin on a portable mount (I don't like the sticking on the window and the markings). It works really well, I recommend it if you don't want to mess up your dashboard or your windshield.

As contrary as MisterGib, I use it mainly for the hand free bluetooth feature (mandatory in Quebec now), so I have to deal with the wires floating around all the time.

You understood correctly: I am in the opposite as you. My Rogue is not bluetooth capable so I had to buy a hand free device. Since I wanted a GPS (for my everyday commute ), I chose a GPS with bluetooth.

BTW, for those using a bluetooth earpiece, do not keep it on you all the time: bluetooth waves are as bad as cellular ones (not the wave frequency but the fact that the wave is pulsed). That is why I chose to use my phone through the GPS. My wife chose the usual wire type earpiece.

Hey Mistergib, thanks for your email. You should get a blue tooth capable phone since you already had blue tooth on your car. It is very nice to have your cell phone and keys in your pocket with Rogue

Actually, I've been planning on doing that as soon as my current Verizoncontract runs out in November....I RARELY talk on my present phone whiledriving, I think its too dangerous.....so, Bluetooth would remedy that to a large degree....

If you REALLY want to mesh things up, Garmin is coming out with the "Nuvifone", a GPS and a handset all rolled up into one, later this year.
