Mistaken Identity

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I think the EX has a mistaken identity. A few times now I have been charged SUV prices for parking lots and at the car wash. I find it hard to swallow that my "vehicle" is an SUV especially when it cost me extra money. Has anyone else experienced this and do you argue with the parking attendant or car wash? FYI - I have successfully argued out of my way out of some of the charges but if they put up too much of a fight I just give up.

Its classified by the DOT as a sport utility vehicle. From an engineering standpoint, its right in between a wagon and SUV. Its weird, I know. But I've never been at a parking lot that charges based off of vehicle type... ?

Mmmm... don't have that problem up here.

If your Car fits in between the Lines... your EX gets charged because of what type it is ?

Convince your Car Lot and Car Wash... that they need a "Crossover" Fee that is in the middle of a Car and SUV.

We just picked up our new 2010 EX35. I had the same question, because (in NY and NJ) if it's considered an SUV you pay more for car washes, oil changes, parking, etc., etc. I scrutinized the window sticker and found that this is classified as a "SMALL STATION WAGON(S)'. This notation is in the EPA Fuel economy estimate section of the sticker.
I'll keep this window sticker in the EX with me!

The X6 would probably be considered a Hideously Disfigured engineering mess from an automotive design standpoint, but I don't make the rules.
