I'm missing my rear O2 sensor. The one by the cat. I'm sure you guys know that though. Anyway, is this a really bad thing? Midas put on an exhaust for me, welded it to the cat, and there is a wire hanging there.. with no O2 sensor. It's been like this since June. I had a mechanic look at it yesterday and noticed it was not there.

I'm pissed at Midas, yet worried about my car now. I had to have Nissan clean my fuel injectors a couple weeks ago.

I just have my second O2 Sensor ziptied to the bottom of the car because I have a test pipe. I've been told all it is for is to see if your cat is working, without it you get a code saying your cat is not efficiently working. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

^^^ Correct...it's part of the OBD system, but won't affect power/mileage/anything...you'll just a constant CEL.

That sensor is only used to see if the cat is working...and it it's not, it trips the CEL....and then your supposed to take it to the dealer and pay $1600 for a new cat...HAHAHAHAHA.

I was wondering if you guys without the 2nd hooked up have the same ocasional problems I do, Just Curios. But from time to time I will throw a code for that sensor saying it not reading prober impedence or some times voltage. I have it in a metal casing I made from electrical condiut and piping. It usually happens when its been raining for a while and the car has been on for an hour or so. The casing is water tight thanks to silicone. Anyone else have that problem.
