Missing ground question

Hey nico,

As I was in the process of pulling the driveshaft as I am getting ready to rebuild my motor. I saw factory ground wire cut in half and connected to where I'm guess the heat shield for the cat would be if I had one. I am wondering if its for something important or not because they just dont have random ground location from the factory?

pretty sure its only there to prevent static buildup. i never had one and never had any problems.
