missing chain guide ka24e

just noticed chain guide on right side of ka24e engine 90 240 sxis missing.

probably left it off when they did timing chain by previous owner.

do i need to replace this ? what is likelyhood it will run without it?

have you had the car running? and when you say right side you mean passenger side? if its the left side(drivers side) this is fairly common for them to come apart the metal braket is there but the plastic is gone. no should not run it with out both the tensioner and guides in place. nissan has an updated guide for the drivers side. the passenger side(right side ) is the tensioner guide.
