My husband noticed a knocking on the front end over bumps, so we both coldly slid under the truck to peek around not really knowing what to look for. Just doing the grip and push/pull test on suspension parts to see what had movement.

Sure enough the drivers side of the big sway bar had ALOT of play, while the passenger side only had a little. Looked inside this hole in the bracket around the swaybar, and nothing was there, just air haha :lolling:

The passenger side wasnt much better, the bushing was rotten and pretty much gone aswell. Is this a difficult part to replace? Expensive?

I was thinking there may even be a polyurethane replacement?? Mind you this is a 2wd

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and ask how much you paid for this vehicle before i sh#t on the dealer. Sometimes the "get what you paid for" theory is very true.

I'm not prying though pathofinder. That's your business.

Dunno about PF, but on my 240Z it was REALLY easy. Two bolts on each side. Do try to get OEM bushings.
Some of the aftermarket stuff doesn't fit quite right.

Now, I'm not sure what rots rubber. And I see lots of surface rust. WAAAAY more than 193,000 mile California '01.

Well it almost looked like though whole steering rack had to be removed to get this surrounding bracket off.

We did get a small private settlement from the dealership if you guys have been following my problems, wasnt much, but coverred the cost of parts and hidden errors so far. It didnt have this cluck when we bought it, but they obviously werent in the best condition.

I paid $4200 for the vehicle out the door, and I definetely regret not having it inspected by a professional outside mechanic first. But I still love it

Does anyone happen to have part numbers for the bushings?

Meh, depending on how hard this vehicle has been driven, I wouldn't say thats too shocking.

Its a rubber bushing, its bound to deteriorate over time. And if it's anything like older gen. pathys, its held in by a two-three bolt bracket. It likely just wore and tore to a point where it just fell out.

I will look under the Path to check it out. Patho, glad to hear u got something from the dealer! Rarely hear anyone getting any satisfaction after a vehicle purchase that went sour (been following most of your posts). If there is one thing I have been sure of in the past, a salesman will always let me down....

The link works for me, but you have to copy and paste it into your browser without the quote marks.
The square bracket was messing up the automatic stuff the site wraps around URLs.

The two sides are usually the same part number.

I want to order the parts locally and my husband asked me to get the actual part numbers he could give to the dealership since our local place is an Infiniti dealer.

Is this the part number? Or is that just how courtesy parts lists it

That's the part number.

BTW, folks, Nissan part numbers look like

xxxxx-yyyzzz or xxxxx-yyyzz

where xxxxx is "what is it", yyy is the first model Nissan used it on (R50 in this case) and IIRC the zzz is the variation
on it.
