I'll admit up front that this may be an odd question, but here goes: Do the hardbody nissan trucks (1992 model) have a removeable section in the rear of the bed floor (like an access to the spare tire doo-hickey or something)? There is an opening about 5" X the width of the corrugated floor section at the rear of my shortbed. It looks too straight to have been cut out by a previous owner, but I suppose it could have. I didn't notice when I bought the truck because it was covered by the bed mat.

Thanks

Mine does not have that and it is a 91. The tailgate has removable panel to access tailgate latch but that is it.

I've never seen anything like that. You might post up a picture here to see if anyone can figure it out...

Weird. I have no such panel on my 86.5. Is there a panel covering the "hole"? If so, is it removable?

Thanks for the replies so far. This afternoon, I took another hard look at the 'hole' and this time, I put a straight-edge up against it. I'm thinking now that it was actually cut out, although I can see no reason why. There are no signs of serious rust problems in that area, top or bottom. No dents either. Just a hole. The trouble now will be to find a patch panel.

hmmm....well those two bolts hoding the spare tire thing are a real PITA, maybe it was cutout to access those 2 bolts. or maybe the bed was from a bagged truck with a custom rear frame coming through?
