I think the misfiring system is how they get big flames out of their exhaust pipe. I think it makes the car misfire for a second and allows raw fuel in the exhaust, then when its back to normal it ignites that fuel and you get flames out the back. I have heard its really bad for the turbo though.

your are right, its keeps the turbo turning when the car is off boost like when taking a turn or something. Its supposed to prevent lag. And it is bad for the turbo, exhaust manifold, exhaust system, etc.

lol i know, it was a joke

and the misfiring system is a purely race bred component. it'd be pointless on the street...i was just wondering...it basically retards the ignition up to 40 degrees in effort to let lots of raw fuel into the exhaust valve (thus sparking the fuel after it leaves the combustion chamber) pushing the explosion faster through the turbos to create a higher exhaust velocity, keeping the turbo at high boost when the car is off the throttle

yeah thats right, the ecu severly retards timing and it goes into a rich mode and dumps lots of fuel into the chambers. The rich mixture is ignited and keeps the turbo spooled to somewhere around 5 maybe more depending on the system. This creates lot of heat and a nice glowing exhaust header. Cracking will usually occur with continuous use.
