The car is a 93 240sx 5 sp. Mileage on the car is 198k. I bought this car from someone that ran into or sucked up some water somehow so the car started misfiring. I didn't really bother doing much diag when I bought it seeing as it swallowed water I assumed it had bent valves. Misfires in 1 and 3. I replaced the engine with one that has 108k, got it all together still have a misfire in 1 and 3 WTF! Ok I reused the distributor and wires and intake manifold w/ injectors. I checked all the plugs and wires switching holes, etc, all good. Compression is 170,180,180,175 doesn't seem too bad. I switched no. 2 and 3 injectors still miss in 1 and 3. So Ive got spark and gas and compression but no fire in 1 and 3. I tried checking codes but I think I just erased them and when I started the car again the light didn't come back on eventhough it is running on 2 cylinders. I am getting very tired of this thing and need help bad.

Check the cap. If it looks ok inside. Check under the plate in the bottom of the distributor. You want to see if there is anything on the wheel with slots on it inside there. Even spider webs.

Everything looks good in the distributor. I think it is a fuel problem , I don't have a noid light to check the pulses but I tried with a volt meter. Number 1 seems like it is flooding out, number three seems like it is not getting enough fuel. I was able to remove the small vaccum line on the back of the manifold and spray carb cleaner in there and got number three to fire, but not number 1. Also, no. 3 plug is hardly wet and no.1 is soaked after running for just a few seconds. Is there any wiring or grounds that would tie these 2 cylinders together?

no. Check the resistance of the injectors. Make sure they all have the same or very close to the same resistance.

I didn't get around to checking the resistance today, but I previously switched 2 and 3 injectors with the same results, so I don't think its an indivudual injector problem. I was looking at a wiring diagram I found on a search, it showed an injector resistor that all the injectors are wiring through. The diagram was for an sr20, so are they the same? Does the ka use a resistor and if so where is it located? Btw when I tried to check pulses with a voltmeter no. 1 was a pretty steady 11-12v, no. 2 seemed to be bouncing around, no. 3 was mostly less than 1v, and no. 4 bouncing like no. 2.

Thats a negative on the resistor. The Ka does not have it.

Do the ohm check.

Ok, well I think I finally got it. Since number 3 had less than a volt, I went to the junkyard and got an ecu. I put it in and number 3 is now firing but 1 is still a miss. The injector is stuck open and dumping fuel. Resistance is 10.3 all others are 11.3. Just to double check, I switched number1 and 2 injectors and the miss moved with the injector. So now I need an injector. Are the Altima injectors the same or does it have to come from a 240?

Thats a good question I do not know for sure. Give me time tonight and I will see if I can come up with part numbers.
