not quite the same. this is actually a rev limiter. it works by stopping the spark when you hit the limit so you just have unburned fuel in the cylinders. this fuel goes into the exhuast and then detonates when the car fires back up again. this makes the big flame. the misfire system on the Evos in ID was a system where the timing was off a little so unburned fuel goes into the turbo keeping it spooled. this is very unsafe and can destroy the turbo and manifold.

any actual benefit of this? i saw something similar at takakaira....i might be able to convince myself to part with that money if i knew it had some purpose other than shooting flames at a specified rpm. hell, ill get a safc and screw with that till i pop flames..-Enzo

So you don't over-rev the engine and possibly break something..

its better than the stock one, because that one stops the fuel. no fuel=bad. no spark=better. you'll prolly fry a lot of stuff in your exhuast, but it will be better than frying your engine.

but this uses unburned fuel. whats cooler, a honda with a goofy *** looking flame shooting out of the pipe or a skyline when a fast, mean flame shooting out?

misfire systems are not meant for street unless you've got serious $$$. Typical turbo life after installing a misfire system will be 3-5k. Want to change your turbo with every oil change? I would much rather not.

exactly. thats why rally cars have to replace their stuff all the time. like i said, this isnt a misfire system, its a rev-limiter.

Had a guy tell me he was gonna set up a misfiring system on his DSM. I said it was dumb and would destroy his exacust system along with other parts of the engine. He said it wouldn't I just decided to stop talking to him about it. Also rally cars have fased out the "Bang Bang" system due to noise restrictions, and the fact it is really hard on the engine.
