A couple days ago, I went to my buddys house in my 93 j30T, she is my daily driver and hasent let me down at all. After I decide to leave, I hop in the car and fire it up, Right away I notice it kinda idiling rough and the check engine light came on. After a little trouble shooting I found out the problem cyl is the second one on the driver side. I pulled the injector wire and no change in how the car is running.

It looks to me that I might need a new injector? what else should I trouble shoot and or check out before I decide to replace the injector?

Thanks for your help guys!

First thing is to swap coil packs with the next cylinder over .If the problem stays on the same cylinder you need to ohm out the Injector directly at the injector. If it ohms out fine its spark plug time !!

The injectors ohm reading should be between 10-14 ohms. Anything below or above that range indicates injector failure.

Injector failures are a very common age related failure in the J's.

If its injector dont worry too much. You can get a reman one for around $50 or I'd recommend getting one from here: http://www.z1motorsports.com/p...93788They also do sell reman ones too with a warranty.

I bought all 6 of mine from Z1 since Nissan was wanting $196 per injector minus o rings and Infiniti dealership was wanting $158 per injector also minus o rings.

Also if you are not too much of a gear head, there is a simpler way to remove the injector if it is just a single one. Most shops will say they will just do a plenum pull on you which will cost over $1000.

Being around 300zx guys a lot there is a way to replace injector without pulling the plenum. Here is a link to a write up on how to dremel the plenum so you can get injector out without pulling it off. http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/155253.html

I would test your other injectors at this point and make sure they are all in working order. You can be lucky and that will be the only one that will go, but don't be surprised if the rest start to follow. Why I replaced all 6 when 1 died and another was on its way out.

This is how extensive a plenum pull can get:

Done it 3 times so far.
