checked for codes...

o2 bank1
misfire cyinder 4

a misfire can cause the o2 code to appear?

can anyone point me to a DIY for checking the plugs, wires, coil packs, etc etc for cylinder 4? have only ever changed plugs on a chevy truck have no idea how to go about it with the coil packs

also.. what harm can be done driving with the misfire in cylinder 4

the simplest this to do it to move the coil pack and plug form that cylinder to another cylinder, if the problem moves it's the cop or the plug, if the problem doesn't move lay that cop and plug connected on the plenum, unplug the other cop's and turn the engine and see if you get a spark, if no spark it's wiring or the ptu, most likley the ptu, if you get spark then you ohm the injector, if it shecks otu you have an engine problem

havent checked for codes yet but i just put all NGK Iridium IX spark plugs in

the plug in cylinder 4 had the electrodes melted together...
after i swapped them out i picked that plug up and it broke in half :wtf2:

-------------------------------------------------

update:
checked for codes got the same two, dont think I had them cleared last check

idle sits constant now, no lack of power shifting, runs great..

btw I was told the NGKs are better for imports, are the NGK Iridium IXs better than
4-prong Bosch's?

is Lucas fuel injector cleaner good stuff? whens the best time on gas to put it in?

I tend to favor Denso's over NGK, Denso's are made in japan, NGK's are made in america, both are fine and good brands, bosh I would use in european cars and all the fancy extra tips, split tips, irridium etc is a waste of money

These NGK Iridium IXs I got are made in Japan, main reason I got em, plus they only cost me $5 a pop. when I search them online theyre about $8 each

anyway.. after installing the new plugs yesterday she ran great, took her for a spin today and was getting a loss of power at about 2700-3000RPM...

once I hit about 2700RPM I could feel a loss of power, I could punch it and it didnt respond as it should. after 3000RPM the power returns and she flies, any ideas?

also, i threw some lucas fuel injector cleaner in at about half a tank and filled up, could the power loss be due to the cleaner cleaning some sludge or what not?

still not sure what was causing the loss of power, I took her out again and the power loss issue in the 2700-3000RPM is gone, accelerated perfect
