mirror removal? help

the car is a 1992 nissan sentra se-r. so the idiot before me desided to electrical tape the driver side mirror onto the car. the mirror's motor, when actually hooked up to the electrical, works but the mirror framework is all messed up and broken. so i'm going to try to find an intact framework and place my old motor and mirror into the new frame. my question is how do i get the old pieces of the framework off? i need to remove the part that actually attaches to the car, the piece that lets the mirror swivel and for the life of me i can't figure it out. it's attached to a metal frame that is hooked to the car and i can't find any clips or bolts holding it on. help? thanks for looking and for your time.

You have to remove the plastic piece on the inside of the door to gain access to the bolts holding the mirror on.

looks like the door panel will have to come off as well.
