My engine has idled like crap since I have owned it. Well today I finally figured it out. The vacuum plumbing on the passenger side was completely wrong. I only discovered this while replacing an O2 sensor and inadvertantly knocking off some vacuum lines and noticing the lope was gone after starting the car.

So I corrected all the vacuum lines, however I CANNOT find the electrical plug for the AIV solenoid. It was never pluged Though the vacuum fix worked I would like this to be plugged in.

Here is a picture of the AIV solenoid.

On the other side of the motor is a UNUSED connector that I have NO idea where it goes. It is not made to reach the AIV solenoid, and even so the terminal is not slotted to accept it.

Here is a pic of the mystery connector.

And here is a pic of where it comes from, looks like it shares a harness with the driver side O2 sensor but I was unable to trace it all the way down.

So 2 questions; where can I find the connector that goes to my AIV solenoid and what the hell does that mystery plug go to?

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Im willing to bet that the mystery plug is the plug that goes to your Idle air control valve have you checked it??? Its on the drivers side of the car on the rear side of the plenum.

Also IIR one of the plugs are actually yellow the one thats on the bottom of the valve.. Good luck!

:luck:

(its time to get a better camera haha)

Ya I think I know the one you are talking about, the one you unplug when you manually adjust your idle right? Mine is in place but is bright yellow where this one is brownish white. I dug around back there but didn't see any open ports.I'll keep looking though, I am suprised between this and the jacked up vacuum lines there were no codes thrown.

I would disregard the AIV's because they are useless... You can delete the whole system and clean things up a bit if you want.

Cool man! I'm still in but I started there as an E4 and made my E5 as a 13B. I really miss Europe and the Airborne. We were always doing something! I'm 4 yes to retirement now and kind of taking it easy lol
