Hey all, I am looking at finally being able to drop some coin into my car. I'm driving a 92 coupe that like the title says is bone stock. My price range is about $1300 and I am mainly look at motor upgrades. Anyone have any suggestions with what I should go after first? Thanks in advance to any suggestions.

Bill

If I had $1300 to drop into a stock 240 I would get.1. Intake2. Exhaust3. Rims and tires4. Strut barsIf there’s any left put into the interior-Seats-Shift Knob

Also fix anything wrong with the engine to get it working in perfect order. Learn to drive it well with these little upgrades then move on and keep modding.

240marcuSX,

-For the time being. after a few tune ups and a rebuild I might have enough money saved up to do something major to it or just drop in a skyline motor. SR's are cool and all but in the long run the KA being the truck motor that it is has more torque and power when built properly.

-Thanks for the reply, Yeap.

those were my thoughts on some basic upgrades until I can drop in some serious coin and become a more improved driver.

Id suggest shocks/ Struts,Hicas rear sway bar, springs, B&M shifter, and wheels. If your gonna rebuild or swap why not just wait on power and get the handling up to par.

If you want to stick with engine stuff, here's what I'd do...

BRM exhaust and high flow catInjen or AEM short ram intakeASP lightweight crank pulleyhotshot headers, if you have any $$$ left

Like the other folks said, I'd probably put at least a little bit in to getting the handling of your car up to par. Replace those tired old shocks, get some mild lowering springs, strut tower bars, sway bars, subframe spacers.

You could get some KYB GR-2 shocks for cheap, get some springs like the H&R Sport or Eibach Pro-Kit (nothing too low or the GR-2's will blow out) and then some Suspension Techniques sway bars, some kind of strut tower bars (Cusco probably too expensive) and some aluminum SPL subframe spacers.

Or...combine the two approaches or read a bit more here at NICO and pick parts you feel comfortable with. That's just stuff I'd buy off the top of my head...some of it may well suck.

Man, this sucks, I should of spent the 200 on some sway bars and not on some stupid cusco motor mounts which I don't even use now. DOH!!
