Just bought an s13. It has two minor problems. The speedodometer works on and off(maybe a loose cable), but odometer full time. And the gas pedal sticks when you first press it(mainly only a problem when starting from a complete stop). Might a little WD-40 help this? Is the joint easily reached? Let me know.

1. electronic, not cable driven. your (digital i'm assuming) gauge cluster is going bad. get an analog cluster and subharness for an easy fix. if you don't get the sub harness, this is what you're in for... http://www.geocities.com/david_fruits/gauges1.html2. you need to clean your throttle body, remove the intake, have someone sit in the car (not running) and hold the throttle open. you will see black soot around the butterfly. use carb and choke cleaner (engine running) by holding the intake up to it, but not on, and squirting into the tb. use an old toothbrush if you don't have someone's help ( again not running) any time you spray it in make sure the engine is running, and not idling but being revved.

My gauge cluster is analog(with the needles), not ditital. Should I still replace the whole cluster? How much will that cost? Also, will cleaning the throttle body help with the actual pedal ITSELF, because I think thats the problem. I will check the throttle body too.

I was just thinking and I guess if the throttle body is mechanically connected to the pedal that would matter...

hes right about the throttle body just clean it out. your speedo gauge can be replaced independantly of all the other guages. but pull the cluster out and look at the solder joints for the speedo connections you may just have a cold solder joint. try reheating the joint with a solder iron add a bit more solder and it should be good to go. some of the early 240s had a cable style speedo but the odo didnt work when it failed and you could tell by looking at the post the cable plugs into on the cluster. it usaully had cracks along the outside plastic which allowed it to slip

i have a similar problem...my cluster works, but it wont light up, and since my speedo is digital, i cant tell my speed. the only time it lights up is when the car is really hot, like if its been sittin in the sun for a while. other than that, if its cool or at nite, the whole cluster wont lite up, but the odometer works and moves, but cant see my speed...what could the problem be? fuse? loose wires? loose connections?
