Glad to hear you're OK Kimber. The Versa can be fixed, but I know it must be disappointing to have the Sopwith Camel dinged up. Glad you could recover, as I can picture the Camel smoking and in a deep spiral as you came to a stop.

Responding to comments from others, one of the best $2.00 you will ever spend is for stick on blind spot mirrors. I have ALWAYS applied these to the side mirrors on every car I own and they are invalueable.

A glance in these before changing lanes will always let you know what's beside you whether your view from the rear window is blocked or not.

My dad always has had those in his work vans (mirrors so huge that the little round stick on mirrors were almost half the size of the versa mirrors) but not matter how much I drove the van I could never get used to them. I only ever got any use out of them when parking and/or backing up. I would personally have a hard time justifying them with how small the Versa mirrors are.

Smart move to take pictures and call the police. It really might not have been your fault. Be sure to provide photos when filing a claim. If you didn't receive a ticket then, maybe you were protected by a lane change law that allows motorists to move to the right lane with minimal signalling.

Texas requires cars in the right lane to yield to autos moving from left to right on the premise there is an emergency-in-progress. Use of signals still applies though.

Numerous people were recently convicted in Dallas of causing accidents, claiming injuries through crooked doctors and clinics, and filing fraudulent insurance claims. The claims were always "just small enough" to cause the insurance companies to pay without much investigation. Too many "funny things" started showing up at these accidents (like the same person but under different names on driver's licenses). It took over 5 years to put this gang away as they took advantage of Dallas's law that allows minor accidents to escape police accident investigation.

Per the paper they got away with millions before being tracked down and prosecuted.

Okay. He called today. Can't do anything about the statement - he has to go by the info presented at the scene.

I have never been more frustrated that my housemate is the mental age of 9.

So, we'll see what the report states. Sigh. 5 more days of waiting. I'll know Monday.

Okay, the police report had like, three lines, lists me as vehicle 1, and states that I was being inattentive. The claims adjuster said we couldn't use Josh's statement because he was on the policy. OH! AND she didn't get any tickets, even though she had a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLATE on the police report versus what was on it when she hit me.

Then today someone (with willful indifference) tried to force me out of my lane. If I didn't love my car, I would have just stepped on my breaks and let him demolish my front end. Then I wouldn't have a claim on my insurance ;oT ... not really worth it. I was right next to him (and he had passed me on the right, so he had to know I was there) and I honked 3 times before just laying on the horn and he just kept coming over into my lane... I was 1/4 of the way into the left turn lane...

oh, and yesterday Rodney walked with me to the Camel after court and he goes, "Show me what you did to my car"...I asked him if he was going to pay the deductible on his car...Amazingly, he had no response.

Wow... Rodney seems to keep becoming a more and more colossal jackass.

And that cop = epic fail.

Oh, and get this... he told me (several days ago) that he had made a mistake by going back to Susan... so he dumped her.

...

I'm actually proud of him for just taking some time for himself. We talk (and it's actually normal, thank God) mostly through text message, though he did call me the other day (for work related stuff) and so I don't know. I can tell he has feelings for me, but he's got to get things straight with Gunnar first (his son) because Gunnar is going to be uber torn up about Susan. (Just like he was the last time which is why I suspect Rodney went back to her.)
